Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

 

Break and Enters:

  • On Thursday morning, an employee of a business in the 1500 Block of Pacific Avenue reported a break and enter that occurred to a storage shed on the property. The lock to the man door was damaged and entry gained however, nothing is reported as being stolen.
  • On Thursday morning, Police received a report that a storage shed in the 2100 Block of Brandon Avenue was broken into. A Falcon motorized bicycle and a set of assorted Makita power tools were stolen. Police continue to investigate.
  • On Thursday evening, Police received a report that a business compound in the 1000 Block of 20th Street was broken into. Investigation determined that a locked gate surrounding the property was forced open and a storage locker within was also forced open. An inventory is being completed to determine what items were stolen from the locker. Police investigation continues.

 

Sexual Assault:

On Thursday, Police arrested a 40-year-old man from Brandon for Sexual Assault X2, Sexual Interference and Luring a Child by Telecommunication. Police entered into an investigation on September 21st after receiving a report that the suspect sexually assaulted a female youth. The investigation revealed that the suspect and victim met on a social media site and the suspect invited the victim to his residence where he is alleged to have forced intercourse on the youth. During the course of investigation, Police were alerted that in July the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted a different female youth. The suspect was lodged at the Police Service and is scheduled to appear in Court later today.

 

Impaired Driving:

At approximately 4:45 this morning, Police conducted a traffic stop in the 1800 Block of Victoria Avenue after observing the vehicle driving at a high rate of speed. The driver showed signs of being impaired, was arrested and transported to the Police Service where breath samples obtained exceeded the legal limit. The 18-year-old man was arrested for Driving While Impaired and Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood. He was released and is scheduled to attend Court in October.

 

Assault with a Weapon:

On Thursday evening, Police members in the area of the 200 Block of 18th Street North observed a male suspect pepper spray another male. The suspect was taken into custody and arrested for Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Fail to Comply with conditions of a Release Order. The 27-year-old suspect was lodged at the Police Service and is scheduled to appear in Court later today.

 

Domestic Assault:

At approximately 5:25 P.M., Police responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 800 Block of 13th Street. A male was located within the residence and  female located at the back of the residence. Investigation determined that the male and female are involved in a domestic relationship and both disclosed being assaulted by the other. A 34-year-old man and 24-year-old female were both arrested for Assault and released to attend Court in November.

 

Other Arrests: 

  • A 32-year-old man turned himself in to BPS on Thursday afternoon for having an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Failing to Attend Court. He was arrested and lodged in BPS cells scheduled to appear in Court later today.
