Vehicle Stolen & Recovered:

A report was received at about 6:50 AM Saturday morning from a resident on Knowlton Drive that his vehicle, a Chevrolet Aveo, had been stolen from the back lane parking spot while it was warming up. The vehicle was recovered just after 8:00 AM, parked a few blocks away from the owner’s address.  It was towed to BPS for an identification unit examination and the matter is still under investigation.

 

Extortion Charge Laid:

A 38 year-old Brandon woman was arrested for extortion on Saturday at BPS, when she attended on an unrelated matter.  This arrest relates to a matter originally investigated in 2018.  The accused was released from Police custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 7th.

 

Domestic Related Assault:

Just before 7:00 PM Saturday evening, we received a report of a domestic dispute that occurred in the 400 block Percy Street.  Upon investigation, it was determined that the 38 year-old male had committed an assault on his wife, and he was arrested for the offence.  Due to his level of intoxication, he was lodged overnight at Brandon Correctional Centre, and will be released this morning, on appropriate police imposed conditions.  The female victim did not require medical treatment. 

 

Probation Breach:

A 27 year-old male was arrested in the 200 block 5th Street for failing to comply with his probation order after a female called to report that he was intoxicated and causing a disturbance in her residence. He had caused damage to the residence but no assault had been committed; however, he is currently bound by a probation order that directs he have no contact with the female.  Due to his level of intoxication, he was lodged overnight at Brandon Correctional Centre, and will be released this morning.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed:

At about 10:30 PM Saturday night, police were called to assist ambulance personnel, who were responding to a reported overdose on alcohol by a 22 year-old female.  Officers attended and located two highly intoxicated females.  The 22 year-old was subsequently lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to prevent a continued breach of the peace.  The other, a 23 year-old female, initially misled members as to her identity, and once her true identity was determined, it was learned that she was wanted on a warrant for arrest for theft under $5000 and three counts failing to attend court.  She was arrested on the strength of the warrant, and a new charge of public mischief.  She too was lodged overnight at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear before a justice today.

 

Others:

On Saturday morning, at about 6:30 AM, a 20 year old male was located in the 1300 block 10th Street, and he had been banging on doors attempting to gain entry to a complex where he had no interest.  He was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to sober up.

A 31 year-old Brandon woman called Police Saturday morning just before 11:00 AM making reports that were determined to be false.  When members attended to her residence in the 400 block Russell Street, it was found she was unable to care for herself due to her level of intoxication.  She was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to sober up.

Staff from Tim Horton’s on Middleton Avenue reported an intoxicated male, who had been loitering in the area for several days and harassing customers for money.  Officers located the 54 year-old suspect in a highly intoxicated state and he was lodged under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act to sober up.
