Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

 

Arrest Warrants Executed:

On Thursday afternoon, a Police Officer conducting a patrol of the downtown area observed an individual known to have an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for failing to attend Court. The 26-year-old man was arrested and released to attend Court in September.

On Thursday afternoon, Police responded to a residence in the 2200 Block of Rosser Avenue for a disturbance. A highly intoxicated 18-year-old female was located and found to have a Warrant of Arrest for failing to attend Court. Police arrested the female, detained her until sober and released her with a court date in September.

On Thursday afternoon, a 78-year-old man attended the Police Service and turned himself in on an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Driving Carelessly under the Highway Traffic Act. The man was arrested and released from custody. He is scheduled to appear in Court in August.

 

Breach of Conditional Sentence:

At approximately 2:00 P.M., Police received a report that a male while under the influence of alcohol attended to the office of Probation Services. The man is bound by a Conditional Sentence Order with a condition to abstain from consuming alcohol. The 22-year-old man was arrested and lodged at the Police Service. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

 

 Forcible Confinement, Assault, Possession of Weapons:

At approximately 2:20 P.M. on Thursday afternoon, Police responded to a residence in the 800 Block of 7th Street after receiving a report that a female who was being held captive, jumped out of a second story window of the residence. The female victim was located and transported to hospital by BFES with a leg injury sustained during the jump. Investigation determined that a male suspect in possession of a machete and a female suspect in possession of bear spray picked up the victim from a North End home earlier in the day and took her to the residence on 7th Street.  Once at the residence, the male suspect punched the victim in the face and threatened to stab her. The fearful victim soon after jumped out of the window. Officers located both suspects as well as the machete and bear spray in the 7th Street residence. A 36-year-old man from Brandon and 29-year-old female of no fixed address have been arrested for Forcible Confinement, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Assault and Uttering Threats to Cause Death. Both suspects remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in Court later today.

 

Breach of Release Order:

On Thursday night, Police stopped a male in the 900 Block of Pacific Avenue knowing that he was bound by a condition of a Release Order to obey a curfew. The 16-year-old youth was arrested for being in breach of the curfew condition. He was arrested, lodged at BPS and is scheduled to appear in Court today.

 

Robbery with Violence:

On Thursday night, a male victim reported being assaulted earlier in the day by a male suspect who punched him, kicked him and stole his headphones. The incident occurred in the 700 Block of McDiarmid Drive. The 18-year-old suspect was identified and located at his residence. He was arrested for Robbery with Violence, released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Court in October. The victim did not require medical attention.

 

Break, Enter and Theft:

 At approximately 4:30 A.M. Friday morning, a resident in the 300 Block of 2nd Street reported two unknown females just kicked in the front door of the residence, entered and then fled out the back door. Police members including a K-9 unit responded and a subsequent track by the Police Service Dog led to a residence in the 300 Block of 1st Street where both female suspects were taken into custody and a cell phone belonging to the caller was recovered. The two 18-year-old suspects were arrested for Break, Enter and Theft. Both were lodged at the Police Service and will be released from custody when sober to attend Court in October.

 

Other Arrests: 

  • One individual was arrested for Breach of the Peace and lodged at the Police Service to be released once sober.
