Possess Weapon/Carry Concealed Weapon

On January 9, 2020, at approximately 11:15 am, employees at Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School reported to the Brandon Police Service High School Resource Officer that they had reason to believe a 14-year-old male student was carrying a handgun, and showing it off to other youth.

At approximately 11:30 am, police arrested the male youth at the school. He was still in possession of the imitation gun, a BB/Airsoft handgun as it was concealed in the waistband of his pants. There was no ammunition in the gun when it was seized. There are no reports that he used the gun to threaten or intimidate any of the other students.

The youth was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court today on charges of Possess Weapon and Carry Concealed Weapon.

 

Theft Under $5000

On January 9, 2020 shortly after 2:00 pm, police received a report of the theft of merchandise from a business in the 800 block of 18th street N. The male suspect left the business prior to reporting to police, but provided a detailed description of the suspect.

Police located and arrested the male in the area of the 000 block of 18th street, still in possession of the stolen merchandise.

The 27-year-old male will appear in court on February 27, 2020 on a charge of Theft Under $5000.

 

Theft Under $5000/ Fail to Comply with Recognizance

On January 9, 2020, after 6:00 pm, police received a report of the theft of merchandise from a business in the 900 block of Victoria Ave. Employees observed the female suspect concealing items in her backpack.

Police stopped the suspect, as she was located in the area, still in possession of the items. Upon her arrest, police learned that she was also the subject of a Conditional Release Order.

The 17-year-old female youth was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court today on charges of Theft Under $5000 and Fail to Comply with a Release Order.

 

Theft Under $5000

On January 9, 2020, at approximately 6:30 pm, police responded to a report of theft of merchandise from a business in the 900 block of 18th street N. Employees from the business found nearly $300 of merchandise in the suspect’s possession. Police arrested the 33-year-old female, who will appear in court on a later date on a charge of Theft Under $5000.

 

Arrest Warrant

On January 10, 2020, at approximately 1:30 am, police responded to a disturbance at a residence, as two roommates were having a disagreement. One of the roommates, a 23-year-old male, was found to be the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant. He will appear in court on March 5, 2020 on a charge of Mischief to Property.

 

Arrest Warrant

On January 10, 2020, a 22-year-old male attended Brandon Police Service to turn himself in; as he was aware, he was the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant for his part in an assault, which occurred last year. The suspect appeared in court in the afternoon of January 9, 2020 on a charge of Aggravated Assault.

In February 2019, police received a report of an assault on an inmate at Brandon Correctional Centre. The inmate suffered serious injuries, including broken bones, which required hospitalization.

Following the investigation into the matter, police consulted with Manitoba Prosecution - Crown Attorney’s Office. A 23-year-old male was arrested on January 1, 2020 for his part in the assault, and appeared in court on January 2, 2020.

 

Arrest Warrant

On January 10, 2020, police arrested a 27-year-old male on an outstanding arrest warrant. He appeared in court that afternoon on a charge of Fail to Comply with Conditions of Recognizance.
