Sudden Death:
Members responded at about 7:30 AM Saturday to assist Brandon Fire & Emergency Services personnel with a reported unresponsive 22 year-old male at a hotel in the 3500 block Victoria Avenue. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene. The death is still under investigation but is not considered suspicious.
Arrest Warrants:
A 16 year-old male was arrested on Saturday morning on the strength of an unendorsed warrant for arrest for failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking. He was held in custody and will appear before the court this morning.
A 22 year-old female was observed in the 0-00 block 10th Street early Saturday afternoon and was known to be the subject of a warrant for arrest for failing to attend court. She was arrested and later released to attend court on September 9th.
A 19 year-old female was located at her residence in the 1500 block Stickney Avenue on Saturday afternoon and arrested on the strength of two warrants for arrest for failing to comply with probation and failing to attend court. She was held in custody and will appear before the court this morning.
A 29 year-old male from Thompson, MB was arrested at about 10:20 PM while members were at the Days Inn Motel on an unrelated matter. The accused was intoxicated, causing problems, and it was found that he was the subject of a warrant for arrest held by the Thompson RCMP for break and enter, and aggravated assault. He was brought into custody and will be released later to appear in court in Thompson on September 24th.
At about 1:20 AM Sunday morning, a traffic stop was conducted in the 900 block Queens Avenue and the passenger fled on foot from the vehicle. A track led officers to a residence in the 1200 block 10th Street where a 25 year-old male was arrested on the strength of a warrant for arrest for failing to comply with conditions of a Release Order. He also faces a new charge for the same offence for breaching the curfew is to abide by. The accused was held in custody and will appear before the court this morning.
Shoplifters:
At about 2:30 PM Saturday afternoon, an employee from Super Store reported that two females had just stole approx. $300 in food and cosmetics from the store and had left on foot. Patrolling members located the suspects in the 200 block 9th Street and they were arrested for the theft. The 31 year-old and 28 year-old accused were later released on appropriate police imposed conditions, and are scheduled to appear in court on October 28th. The merchandise was recovered and returned to the store.
Arson With Disregard for Human Life:
Around 7:50 PM Saturday evening, staff at the Colonial Inn report someone had asked them to call Police as a female had ransacked a room and damaged a door. A few minutes later, a call was received stating there was a fire in that room now. Shortly after arrival at scene, Police arrested a 24 year-old female suspect. It was learned that she had assaulted her boyfriend and their child, and had damaged property within the room. Later, outside the hotel, while holding a weapon she uttered threats to kill several people. Investigation determined that she was responsible for starting the fire in the room. As a result of the fire and amount of smoke issues it caused, the hotel had to be evacuated. The accused is held in custody and will appear before the court this morning facing charges of arson with disregard for human life, assault, mischief to property, possess weapon dangerous, and uttering threats.
Others:
A total of 7 intoxicated people were brought into custody under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act or to prevent a breach of the peace from separate incidents. They will be released once sober.
