Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Fail to Comply with Release Order:

On Friday afternoon, Police assistance was required for a report of a female passed out in the 600 Block of Van Horne Avenue. The highly intoxicated female was known to officers and a record check determined she is bound by a Release Order with a condition to abstain from consuming drugs or alcohol. The 39-year-old female was arrested and lodged at the Police Service. She was released from custody once sober and is to attend Court in September.  

 

Prohibited Driving:

At approximately 1:40 P.M., Police observed a male known to be Prohibited from driving operating a motor vehicle in the 1600 Block of 3rd Street. An officer attempted to conduct a vehicle stop but the driver parked on the side of the road and attempted to evade the officer on foot. The male suspect was located a short distance away from the vehicle and was arrested for Operating a Conveyance while Prohibited. The 33-year-old was released and is scheduled to appear in Court in October.

 

 Domestic Assault, Assault on Police:

At approximately 2:47 P.M. on Friday afternoon, Police responded to a residence in the 1100 Block of 6th Street after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance. Investigation determined that a highly intoxicated female suspect assaulted her husband by biting him on the arm. The victim did not require medical attention. The suspect was taken into Police custody and continued her aggressive behavior. While waiting for medical clearance at the hospital, the suspect kicked one of the officers. The Police member did not receive any physical injuries because of the assault. The 35-year-old suspect is facing charges of Domestic Assault and Assault Peace Officer. She was lodged at the Police Service and is scheduled to appear in Court Saturday morning.

 

Domestic Assault:

On Friday evening, a female contacted Police reporting that she was assaulted by her boyfriend earlier in the day. Investigators learned that the male suspect punched the victim in the head twice. The victim did not receive physical injuries requiring medical attention because of the assault. The 37-year-old male suspect was located and arrested for the Assault; he was released to attend Court in October.  

 

Break and Enter:

On Friday evening, Police received a report that an apartment in the downtown area had been broken into on July 29th and July 30th. The complainant reported that on both occasions the door and deadbolt had been tampered with. At this time it is unknown what if anything was stolen and the Police investigation is ongoing.

 

Possession for Trafficking Crack Cocaine:

 At approximately 4:00 A.M. Saturday morning, Police conducted a traffic stop in the 1900 Block of Rosser Avenue. The male driver and female passenger were in possession of open liquor. Both were arrested and a search incidental to the arrest recovered a small quantity of crack cocaine and drug trafficking related paraphernalia including $790 cash. A 42-year-old male and 27-year-old female, both from Brandon were arrested for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Crack Cocaine and Possession of Proceeds of Crime. The suspects have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Court in September.

 

Other Arrests: 

  • Two individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace and lodged at the Police Service to be released once sober.
  • Two individuals were detained under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act.
  • A 27-year-old intoxicated female was arrested under the LGCCA for consuming liquor in a public place. The female was located on Friday evening openly drinking alcohol in the downtown area. She was lodged at the Police Service and released once sober.
