For the past 24 hours:

Break & Enter:

On Friday morning a resident from the 600 block 10th Street reported a break and enter that occurred sometime overnight during which suspect(s) entered a vehicle, shed, and patio area.  All of these were accessed via unlocked doors.  Stolen were a wallet containing identification documents and a John Deere leaf blower.

Impaired Driver Collides with Police Car:

At about 1:30 PM Friday afternoon, we received a report of an impaired driver at the Richmond Avenue Co-op. A responding officer located the suspect vehicle parked behind a nearby business and initiated a vehicle stop. As the officer approached the vehicle, it slowly reversed into the Police car, colliding with the front right wheel / quarter panel area.  There was no visible damage to the PC, but the suspect vehicle also struck a SUV that it was parked beside, causing minor damage to it.  The 29 year-old male driver showed significant signs of impairment and he was arrested at the scene.  He subsequently provided breath samples that showed a blood alcohol content of over three times the legal limit.  He was held in custody until he was less intoxicated and then released to appear in court on May 6th to face charges relating to the operation of a motor vehicle while impaired.

Arrest Warrants:

Dauphin RCMP arrested a 29 year-old male for public mischief on the strength of a warrant for arrest held by BPS.  He was held in custody at their point to appear before the court today.

A 40 year-old male was arrested early this morning for assault on the strength of a warrant for arrest after he was observed in the 300 block 8th Street just after 3:00 AM.  He was processed and released on appropriate Police imposed conditions and is to appear in court on July 4th.

Breach Charges:

A 17 year-old male was arrested and held in custody, to appear before the court today, for failing to comply with conditions of a Release Order he is currently bound by.  At about 7:20 PM Friday evening, a foster parent reported kicking a number of youths out of her yard.  She advised that the accused was one of the ones who left despite her efforts to have him stay, as he is bound by a 24 hour curfew. When Police first spotted the accused, he took off running but was eventually apprehended.  He was found to be intoxicated, which was also a breach of his release conditions.

Weapons Charges:

A 15 year-old male was arrested and released to appear in court on July 9th after investigation revealed that he had entered a yard in the 1500 block Lorne Avenue and retrieved a machete, which he then concealed in his clothing.  He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and carry a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Theft & Mischief Charges:

At about 7:50 PM Friday evening, a resident from Cornell Bay reported that a family member was unwelcome at her residence but was refusing to leave.  The caller had previously reported that the suspect had stolen a television from her and damaged another.  Officers located and arrested the suspect for theft and mischief charges.  He was released on appropriate Police imposed conditions and is to appear in court on July 4th.

Others:

Several individuals were held in custody from separate incidents to recover from drug and or alcohol intoxication that made them unsafe or incapable of keeping themselves safe.  Once sober enough to care for themselves, they were released from custody.

Released by:
