Court Order Violations

On Saturday morning, police attended a disturbance in the 400 block of 12 Street.  A 27-year-old Brandon male was located in the residence in possession of bear spray.  The male is on two separate weapons prohibition orders as well as a release order with a condition not to possess weapons.  The male was also found to be wanted on an unendorsed warrant for assault.  He was arrested and lodged and will appear in court in the morning.

On Saturday afternoon, police attended the 100 block of 11th Street for a report of a male openly consuming alcohol in public.  The 29-year-old male was located and checked.  It was discovered that the male is on parole which had been revoked by Corrections Canada and was wanted Canada-wide on an unendorsed warrant.  While in custody the male assaulted members of the police service on three separate occasions by spitting on them.  He was held in custody for court in the morning.

On Saturday evening, police conducted a traffic stop in the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue after receiving a complaint of a possible impaired driver.  The driver was not impaired however; one passenger was in possession of open liquor and was intoxicated.  The 25-year-old male from Sioux Valley is on an undertaking with conditions to abstain from drugs and alcohol and was arrested.  When searched the male was found to be in possession of a small quantity of cocaine. He was charged with possession of cocaine and two counts of breach of undertaking.  He was released from custody and will appear in court in October.

 

Structure Fire

At 7:15 pm, Friday evening, police attended a structure fire in the 200 block of 3 Street.  The fire was contained to the living room of the house, which was supposed to be vacant.  The owner was contacted and informed police that he had been having difficulties with people entering the vacant property.  The fire appears to have started on a couch.  It is unknown whether the act was deliberate or accidental.  The investigation is continuing.

 

Fraud

On July 18, police received a complaint that a debit card had been stolen and used on the same date when the accused withdrew a quantity of cash from the victim’s account.  The suspect was known to the victim and identified to police.  On Saturday afternoon, the accused, a 27-year-old male from Brandon, was located, arrested for fraud under $5000.00 and released for court in November.
