Homicide

On August 27, 2023, at 1:34 pm, police happened across an individual laying in the 900 block of Pacific Ave.  At approximately the same time, a 911 call was received reporting a possible stabbing in the same area.  The 46-year-old male victim that police had located was suffering from injuries consistent with a stabbing.  He was transported to the hospital via ambulance where he later succumbed to his injuries. 

Members of BPS Major Crime Section and Forensic Identification Unit attended to the scene where the victim was located to conduct an investigation into the homicide.  The investigation continues.

UPDATE: Sexual Assault – Suspect Arrested

August 28, 2023:

As a result of an ongoing investigation into the 23-year-old suspect, police located hundreds of videos and images of child sexual abuse on his devices, and five additional child victims have been identified.  On August 28, 2023, he was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service. 

He will appear in court today on additional charges of  Possess Child Porn, Access Child Porn, Luring child Under 16 Years by Telecoms X5, Invitation to Sexual Touching X4, Sexual Assault X4, Sexual Interference X 2, Transmit Sexually Explicit Material and Fail to comply with Undertaking.

Original release from May 25, 2023:

On May 21, 2023, police received a report of a 23-year-old male who had given meth to a 15-year-old female victim.  The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment by her parents.

Police learned the suspect and the victim had begun conversing over Snap Chat during the previous 18-months.  The male also brought the victim to his residence on several occasions.

An investigation into the suspect’s actions towards the victim during the 18-months lead police to arrest him on May 24, 2023 for Luring, Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, Invitation to Sexual Touching, and Administer Noxious Thing.  He will appear in court on July 20, 2023.

 

Breach of the Peace

On August 27, 2023, shortly after 3:00 pm, police were flagged down to a disturbance in the 800 block of Pacific Ave.  A 25-year-old female was found to be part of the cause of the disturbance.  She was lodged at Brandon Police Service due to her intoxication level and held until sober to prevent the continuation of her actions.

On August 27, 2023 shortly before midnight, police responded to a report of a fight between family members outside a business in the 100 block of Middleton Ave.  A 29-year-old intoxicated male was found to be one of the issues, and he had wandered away and was walking along the highway.  He was arrested when he came back and lodged at Brandon Police Service to prevent the continuation of his actions.

 

IPDA

On August 28, 2023 at approximately 2:00 am, police responded to a report of an intoxicated female in the 000 block of 12th street N.  She had worn out her welcome at a residence, and had nowhere else to go and nobody to care for her.  The 26-year-old female was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

 

Arrest Warrant

On August 27, 2023, a 48-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Attend Court attended to Brandon Police Service.  He was later released and will appear in court on October 23, 2023.
