Aggravated Assault

On June 24, 2023 at approximately 1:24 am, police responded to a report of a male who was laying on the sidewalk while bleeding in the 1800 block of McDonald Ave.  The 43-year-old male received serious injuries believed to have been caused by an edged weapon.  He was transported to hospital, and later to HSC to be treated for the injuries.  He remains in stable condition.

Possession of Firearm Obtained by Crime

On June 25, 2023, at 12:30 pm, police responded to a 911 hang-up call from a residence.  When police entered the home to ensure the wellbeing of the occupants, they observed a shotgun in a child’s bedroom.  The shotgun was previously reported stolen.  A 21-year-old female was arrested and later released to appear in court on charges of Careless Storage of Firearm, Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized and Possession of Firearm Obtained by Crime.

 

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Suspect Arrested

On June 25, 2023, police received information from RCMP that a vehicle, which had been stolen from Onanole, MB overnight, was being operated in Brandon.  The vehicles’ owner was able to track the location of the vehicle using a GPS App.  Shortly after 3:00 pm, police located the stolen vehicle parked in the 300 block of 13th street.  The 28-year-old male suspect was in the driver’s seat and arrested.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Possess Property Obtained by Crime.

 

Theft Under $5000

On June 25, 2023 at approximately 12:00 pm, police stopped and arrested a male pedestrian in the 400 block of Louise Ave, as they had reason to believe he had just stolen merchandise from a business in the 900 block of Victoria Ave.  The 30-year-old male initially provided police with a false name, as he was not in compliance with his Conditional Sentence Order 24-hour curfew.  Employees from the business confirmed that the male had stolen from there just prior.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Theft Under $5000, Public Mischief and Fail to Comply with Conditional Sentence.

 

Mischief Under

On June 25, 2023, shortly after 1:00 pm, police responded to a report of a panic alarm at a residence.  When police arrived, they learned that one of the residents was causing problems for others in the home by threatening them and damaging property.  The 17-year-old female was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service.  She was later released to appear in court on August 29, 2023 on charges of Mischief Under.

 

Theft Under $5000

On June 25, 2023, at approximately 5:30 pm, police responded to a report of a male suspect who had stolen merchandise from a business in the 900 block of 18th street N.  The male put on clothing from the business and proceeded to shop while wearing the clothes without purchasing them while carrying his own clothes.  Police attended and arrested the highly intoxicated 43-year-old male.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will be released once sober to appear in court on a later date on charges of Theft Under $5000.

 

Operation of Motor Vehicle While Prohibited

On June 25, 2023 shortly after 8:00 pm, police conducted a vehicle stop in the 1100 block of Lorne Ave.  The 44-year-old female driver was found to be prohibited from driving and arrested.  She was later released to appear in court on August 3, 2023 on a charge of Operation of Motor Vehicle While Prohibited.  A 43-year-old male passenger was found to be breaching conditions of his release order and was arrested.  He was later released to appear in court on August 3, 2023 on a charge of Fail to Comply with Release Order.

 

Possession of a Weapon

On June 26, 2023, shortly before 2:00 am, police observed a male wearing a balaclava and gloves while checking vehicles, then entering a residential yard in the 1500 block of 8th street.  The male was arrested, and he initially provided police with the name of his twin brother.  Police located a knife inside his pants tied to his drawstring. He was later released and will appear in court on August 28, 2023 on charges of Possession of a Weapon, Carry Concealed Weapon, Public Mischief, and Trespass by Night.

 

Breach of the Peace

On June 26, 2023 shortly after 2:00 am, police received a report of an intoxicated male harassing and interfering with employees who were at a construction site in the 100 block of Lorne Ave.  The male was initially given an opportunity to leave, but he returned a short time later.  To prevent his actions from continuing, the 33-year-old male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

 

Fail to Comply with Undertaking

On June 26, 2023, police received a report of a 14-year-old female who had left her residence and was in breach of her curfew.  At approximately 4:00 pm, police stopped several pedestrians in the 100 block of 9th street, and found one of them to be the 14-year-old suspect.  She was arrested and later released back to her caregiver. She will appear in court on August 1, 2023 on a charge of Fail to Comply with Undertaking.  

 

Breach of the Peace

On June 25, 2023 at approximately 1:00 pm, police responded to 911 hang up call at a residence. When police arrived at the home, they learned that a 33-year-old male had returned home intoxicated, and the others in the home were unable to prevent his actions from escalating.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.
