Brandon Police Service Media Release for the Past 24 Hours.

Assault Peace Officer, Resist Arrest

On June 24th, shortly after 11:00 pm, officer attended to a residence on Confederation Bay for a report of a man causing problems there. The male subject is on a court order to not communicate with a resident and was the subject of an arrest warrant.  When officers attempted to arrest him, he backed into a bedroom and swung at the officer, striking one of them in the arm.  The man then was able to break free and run away.  Attempts to locate him, including use of the Police Service Dog, were unsuccessful. A warrant was obtained for his arrest.  On Friday morning, officer checked the address on Confederation Bay and the man was located there.  The accused, a 28 year old from Thompson, was arrested and appeared in court on Friday afternoon on charges of Assault Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest and Breach of Probation.

Domestic Assault

On Friday afternoon, a resident of the 300 block of 10th St reported her daughters boyfriend has assaulted her and her daughter.   The male suspect, a 44 year Brandon resident, was located at a residence on 20th St North. He was arrested and held to appear in court on Saturday morning on charges of Assault and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking.

Search Warrant Executed, Man Charged
Around 7:00 pm on Friday evening, members of the Major Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the 800 block of Rosser Ave.  The warrant is the result of an investigation into a man who was posting items for sale on social media and sales websites, taking deposits by e-transfer and not concluding the transaction as he did not actually own the items.  During the search, officers discovered two stolen bicycles, a small quantity of methamphetamine and psilocybin mushrooms.  The suspect, a 28 year old from Brandon, was arrested on charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Fraud Under $5000, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Psilocybin Mushrooms.  He was released on an undertaking to appear in court in September.

Mischief to Property

Around 8:30 pm on Friday evening, a man threw a large rock through a window on the east side of the Brandon Police Service building.  A member of the police service was working in the room at the time and the rock struck and damaged the computer he was using.  Officers exited the building and located the suspect nearby, with several more large rocks in his possession.  A 24 year old man from Brandon was arrested and released on an undertaking to appear in court in September.

Break And Enter

A construction business in the 500 block of Pacific Ave was broken into over night between June 24th and 25th.  Numerous tools were stolen.

Other Arrests

Two people were lodged for Breach of Peace.
