Warrants Executed

On Thursday morning, officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Highland Avenue.  A male passenger was found to have an arrest warrant for breach of probation and failing to appear in court.  When searched the 22-year-old from Brandon, had a can of bear spray concealed under his pant leg.  The male was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.  He was released from custody and will appear in court in November.

On Thursday evening, Brandon Police Service members attended the Brandon Correctional Center and executed a Winnipeg Police arrest warrant on a 23-year-old prisoner for failing to comply with a release order and obstruct justice.  The male remains in custody and will appear in court in the morning.

On Thursday evening, officers conducted a well-being check on a 34-year-old male in the 1500 block of 26th Street after family members contacted police with concerns about the male’s mental state.  The male was located, intoxicated by a drug, and found to be wanted on an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court and failing to appear for fingerprints.  The male was also found in possession of a spring loaded baton, which is a prohibited weapon.  He was arrested and held in custody for release when sober.  He will appear in court in November.

 

Possession of Unmarked Tobacco

On Thursday afternoon, officers conducted a traffic stop on the #1 Highway near 18 Street North.  Located in the vehicle was 11 cases of unstamped cigarettes.  The two males from Alberta were arrested and are charged with numerous offences including possessing more than 25 units of unmarked tobacco under the Tax Administration Act.  Both males were held in custody for court in the morning.

 

Impaired Driver

At 1:45 am, officers conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Victoria Avenue.  The driver sowed signs of impairment and was arrested.  The 29-year-old Brandon male provided two samples of breath, one at twice the legal limit.  The driver was charge with impaired driving and drive over .08 and was released for court later in September.
