Attempted Arson

On June 13, 2023, shortly after 10:00 pm, police responded with BFES to a report of a fire at a business in the 600 block of 9th street.  The fire was contained to a small area on a set of outdoor stairs, which lead to the back lane, and caused minimal damage. Investigation revealed a broken glass bottle at the scene that is believed to have contained liquid accelerant.

Workplace Accident

On June 14, 2023 at approximately 4:00 am, police responded with BFES to a report of an employee who had fallen approximately 10.5 metres from a scaffolding area at a business in the 1200 block of 17 street E. 

The 41-year-old male employee suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.  He was transported by ambulance to hospital.

It does not appear that any criminality was involved in the incident, and police are no longer involved in the investigation.

As the business is a federally regulated workplace, responsibility of the investigation of the accident falls under Part II of the Canadian Labour Code.

 

IPDA

On June 14, 2023, shortly after midnight, police responded to a report of an intoxicated male laying in the 700 block of 10th street.  The 29-year-old male was in no position to care for himself.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

On June 14, 2023, shortly before 2:00 am, police responded to a report of an intoxicated male who was no longer welcome at a residence he was visiting.  The 21-year-old male was in no condition to care for himself.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

 

Assault

On June 13, 2023, police received a report of an assault that occurred in a residence on May 11, 2023. Investigation revealed that the 25-year-old female suspect punched the adult male victim.  The victim did not require medical attention.  The female was arrested on June 13, 2023 and later released to appear in court on August 17, 2023 on a charge of domestic Assault.

 

Arrest Warrant

On June 13, 2023, a 25-year-old male attended to Brandon Police Service to turn himself in as he was wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Comply with CSO.  He was lodged and will appear in court today.
