 Arson to Garden Shed

At approx. 6:40 AM Thursday, police and fire staff were dispatched to the 500 block of 17th St for a shed fire.  The fire was quickly controlled and the investigation is ongoing.  Police have reason to believe the fire was deliberately set and are working to identify a female suspect that was seen in the area. 

 

Arrest Warrant Executed

At approx. 11:00 AM Thursday, police attended to a residence in the 100 block of 16th St attempting to locate a person for an unrelated matter.  While thee they spoke with a 35-year-old male from Long Plain Frist Nation.  A check of the male revealed an outstanding warrant for his arrest for charges including Break and Enter, Unlawfully in a Dwelling, Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession of Stolen Property, Breach of Recognizance and Failing to Appear in Court.  The male was arrested by officers and held for court to face the outstanding charges.   

 

Arrest Warrant Executed

At approx. 8:50 Am Thursday, officers were called to a business in the 1900 block of Queens Ave for a group of people consuming alcohol.  Members attended and located a 22-year-old Brandon male who was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant for Theft Under $5000, 3 counts of Failing to comply with a Release order as well as Breach of his Probation Order.  The male was arrested on the strength of the warrant.  He was later released from custody with a court date of October 29.

 

Liquor Gaming Cannabis Control Act (LGCCA)

At approx. 6:55 hrs officers were called to the 800 block of Rosser Ave for a female that appeared to be passed out in the foyer of a business.  Members located the 42-year-old Brandon female and she was originally arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.  Upon arrest she was found n possession of approx. 15 grams of cannabis which was not properly packaged, labelled of stamped.  She was held at the Brandon Police Service until sober at which time she was released with a Provincial offence notice under the LGCCA.

 

Break Enter and Theft

At approx. 7:10 PM Thursday, Police received a report of a break and enter to an apartment in the 1500 block of Lorne Ave.  The tenant indicated that the suspect(s) entered through window by removing an air conditioning unit, within the past 2 hours prior to calling police.  Once inside they stole a 30 inch Roku television, a PS4 game console, and two tablets.  The matter is still under investigation.

 

Arrest Warrant Executed

At 9:45 PM Thursday, police were called the area of 15th St and Lorne Ave for a disturbance.  Upon arrival, they did not find any type of disturbance but they spoke with a 37-year-old female and a 45 year old male observed in the area. Both subjects were found to be wanted on outstanding warrants of arrest.  The male was wanted for charges of Fraud under $5000 and 2 counts of failing to attend court.  The female’s warrant was for failing to attend court.  Both parties were arrested and later released with a future court date.

 

Possession of Meth for the Purpose of Trafficking

At approx. 11:07 PM Thursday, police conducted a taffic stop in the 200 block of 18th St. During the stop a 37 year old female, who was a passenger of the vehicle was found in possession of 8.5 grams of meth packaged for sale as well as a small amount of cash.  The meth and cash were seized and the female was charged with possession of meth for trafficking as well as possession of proceeds of crime (cash).  She was released with a court date of October 29.

 

Possession of a Prohibited Weapon

At approx. 2:10 AM today, police conducted a traffic stop in the 1800 of 18th St North.  A check of the 2 occupants of the vehicle revealed a both males were currently bound by court ordered release orders. The first male a 43-year-old male of a rural Minnedosa address was bound by a daily curfew, which he was in breach of.  The second male, a 25-year-old Brandon male was on an order prohibiting him from being in possession of any incendiary device.  Within the vehicle, officers observed a can of pepper spray and also found the second male in possession of a lighter, in breach of his order.  Both were arrested for being in possession of a prohibited weapon and for breaching their release orders.  They were both later released with a court date of October 29.

  

Other Arrests

  • 1 female was arrested and held at the Brandon Police Service under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act
  • 2 females and 2 males were arrested and held at the Brandon Police Service for breach of the peace.
