Sexual Assault

On May 30, 2023 shortly before midnight, police received a report of an 11-year-old female who had been sexually assaulted by a 20-year-old male at his residence.  The victim and the suspect are known to one another. 

On May 31, 2023, shortly after 2:00 am, the suspect was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service. Members of BPS Major Crime Unit continued to investigate and obtained a warrant to search the suspect’s home at approximately 11:30 am.

On May 31, 2023, the suspect appeared in court and was remanded in custody on charges of Invitation to Sexual Touching, Sexual Interference, Sexual Assault, and Fail to Comply with Release Order.

 

Assault

On May 31, 2023, shortly after 12:00 pm, police responded to a report of an assault in the area of the 000 block of 9th street.  Investigation revealed that the 39-year-old male suspect struck the adult female victim, who was not known to him.  She did not require medical attention.  The male was located and arrested.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on a charge of Assault.

 

Theft Under $5000

On April 8, 2023, police received a report of the theft of approximately $200 in Easter candy items from a business in the 3400 block of Victoria Ave.  Security footage from the business assisted in identifying the 35-year-old female who was located and arrested on May 31, 2023.  She was later released to appear in court on July 31, 2023.

 

IPDA

On May 31, 2023 at approximately 8:30 pm, police responded to a report of an individual passed out in the 900 block of Victoria Ave.  The 29-year-old female was in no condition to care for herself, and had nowhere to go.  She was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

 

Impaired Driving

On May 31, 2023, shortly before midnight, police conducted a vehicle stop in the 400 block of 21 street after witnessing the vehicle accelerate from an intersection at a high rate of speed.  The 27-year-old male driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested.  He proved samples of his breath, which were over the legal limit.  He was later released to a sober friend and will appear in court on June 8, 2023 on charges of Driving While Ability Impaired, and Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood.

 

Theft Under $5000

On April 10, 2023, police received a report of the theft of approximately $130 in grocery items from a business in the 3400 block of Victoria Ave.  The theft occurred on April 4, and employees were able to observe the theft from security footage, which assisted police in identifying the 40-year-old female.  She was located and arrested on May 31, 2023.  She was later released to appear in court on July 31, 2023 on a charge of Theft Under $5000.

 

Arrest Warrants

On May 31, 2023, police located and arrested a 32-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding charges of Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Forcible Confinement, and Possess Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service to appear in court today.

On June 1, 2023 at approximately 12:30 am, police conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of 1st street N.  A 24-year-old male passenger was found to be wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to comply with Probation.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today.

On June 1, 2023, a 24-year-old male attended to Brandon Police Service to turn himself in on numerous outstanding charges including Possession of a Firearm, Assault with a Weapon, and B&E with intent.  He was lodged and will appear in court today.
