City to Start Controlled Burn of Dutch Elm Disease Debris on Mon, Feb. 24

Brandon, MB - City of Brandon Parks & Recreation Services wishes to advise the public that it will begin a controlled burn of Elm tree debris impacted by Dutch Elm Disease in the area of the Crystal Pits (1825 Victoria Ave. E.) starting on Mon, Feb. 24, 2025.
The City of Brandon undertakes the removal of diseased, dead, or dying Elm trees in accordance with guidelines laid out by the Province of Manitoba. Approximately 370 Elm trees were removed as part of the 2024-2025 program.
The fire will be monitored 24/7 by City of Brandon Parks & Recreation Services. The appropriate permits from Brandon Fire & Emergency Services have been secured. It is anticipated the controlled burn should be completed by the afternoon of Fri, Feb. 28, 2025.
