City Council Meeting Highlights - February 18, 2025

Brandon City Council held its regular meeting on Feb. 18, 2025. In addition to recognitions and updates from Council Committee reports, the following key discussions and decisions included:

• Council accepted the recommendation from the Brandon Police Board to adopt the proposed joint Bail Reform Resolution. A letter will be sent to senior levels of government and various partners to advocate for bail reform.

• City Council received a report from administration to prepare a new housing strategy for the city.

• City Council received an update on the strategic plan for Quarter 4 of 2024.

• Three By-Laws were read for a first time:
  • By-law No. 7414 to rezone the property at 526 26th Street from CAR Commercial Arterial to CG Commercial General zone.
  • By-law No. 7417 to amend street names in the Oakridge Estates neighborhood.
  • By-law No. 7418 to amend the borrowing by-law for constructing new stormwater infrastructure in the southeast area of Brandon.
