Brandon Transit On-Demand Pilot Program Concluding

August 31, 2022

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon’s Transportation Division will be concluding Brandon Transit’s On-Demand Pilot Program, with the last Transit On-Demand session running this Saturday, September 3rd, 2022.

Transit On-Demand started as a pilot project on November 1st, 2021. Unfortunately, the results of this pilot project did not achieve our desired outcomes and we will be returning to the previous fixed route system. For route information, please visit Brandon Transit.

Transit riders should note that information located on Google Trip Planner, AKA Google Transit, is being updated to include accurate trip information. Until Google Transit has been fully updated, please reference the route PDFs on brandontransit.ca for stop timing points and detailed route information.

“We would like to thank all of our riders for their patience, cooperation, and loyalty as we implemented new and innovative technology for the transit industry,” notes Carla Richardson, Director of Transportation. “Their feedback and evaluation of this technology was very valuable and assisted us when making decisions. Through the pilot project, valuable data was collected that will help us review and adjust routes moving forward that will better serve the riders.”

As a thank you for helping with the evaluation of the Transit On-Demand software systems, Brandon Transit will be offering FREE Transit during the evenings from 6:00 p.m. to midnight on September 6th to September 10th, 2022 ONLY.* Fares will continue to be collected from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. throughout the week. Free transit does not include Brandon Access Transit. Regular fare collection will resume on Sunday, September 11th, 2022.

On behalf of our entire Brandon Transit team, thank you for your continued support in ensuring Brandon Transit remains a success.
