Temporary Arrivals/Baggage Claim Area Now in Place at Brandon Municipal Airport

November 13, 2015

Brandon, MB – As work progresses on the Brandon Municipal Airport Expansion/Redevelopment Project, the City of Brandon wishes to advise all travellers and visitors accessing flights at the airport that operation of a temporary arrivals/baggage claim area will begin this weekend.

A temporary trailer structure has been situated on the ground side of the current terminal building, just south of the airport facility’s control tower. As such, passengers exiting an arriving aircraft will be required to walk through the facility’s covered glass hallway and then access the trailer structure on the other side of the building in order to retrieve any checked luggage prior to departing from the airport. Public washrooms and car rental facilities located within the terminal building may be accessed by passengers at any time during this process. To ensure passenger comfort, the trailer is fully accessible and has been designed with the proper heating, ventilation, and lighting.

Passenger flow within the terminal building relating to departing flight check-in, security screening, and departure boarding will not be affected by this arrivals process. This process is anticipated to be in place until the summer of 2016, at which time completion of the terminal’s new arrivals hall is anticipated. Completion of the overall redevelopment project is anticipated by the end of 2016.
