April 1, 2016

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon, along with Wheat City Golf Course management and staff, are very pleased to announce the start of the 2016 season at the Wheat City Golf Course is scheduled to swing into action on Wednesday, April 13th. The course has wintered very well and maintenance staff have been working extremely hard to ensure a long-awaited 18-hole course season can be enjoyed by golfers of all skill levels. To welcome back golfers in style, special spring pricing of just $32 for an 18-hole green fee and a ½ cart rental will be offered until May 30th!

In advance of the season’s launch, the course’s Pro Shop will open on Monday, April 11th, at which time the facility’s tennis courts will also be available for play.  Information on the course, including season pass and casual rate pricing, how to book a tee time, and tennis court rentals, can be found by calling the Pro Shop at 204-729-2177 or by visiting http://www.wheatcitygolfcourse.ca/. Secure cart storage is also available on site. Once again this year, beverage/snack cart services provided in partnership with the Keystone Centre will be available. The Wheat City Golf Course & Pro Shop is located at 3500 McDonald Avenue.

Visitors to the Wheat City Golf Course will notice the recent removal of some trees in the area, which has been done in preparation for future dike stabilization and elevation to protect this valuable community asset, as well as to facilitate the removal of diseased Dutch Elm trees. The City of Brandon is committed to restoration efforts required to replace trees that were removed, as per its normal practice of tree replacement.

Management and staff at the Wheat City Golf Course sincerely thank all golfers for their continued patronage as they strive to offer a superior golfing experience at Brandon’s only 18-hole golf course.
