Residential Diversion Depot
The Residential Diversion Depot opened on August 29, 2026, to help keep recyclable or reuseable materials out of the landfill.
Materials accepted in this designated area can be recycled, reused, or composted, helping to reduce the amount of waste requiring disposal. There is no cost to dispose of any of the materials accepted in the depot.
The depot plays a vital role in preserving valuable landfill space, conserving natural resources through recycling and reuse and helping to control long-term waste management costs for the citizens of Brandon by extending the life of the landfill site.
To ensure the safe and efficient operation of the depot, residents are encouraged to sort their materials before arriving. Properly separated loads helps streamline the unloading process and maximize diversion opportunities.

- Mattresses & Boxsprings
- Mixed Recycling/Cardboard
- Organics (food & yard waste)
- Scrap Metal (anything that is mostly metal)
- Clean Wood (untreated, unprocessed, unpainted wood only)
- Tree Waste
- Tires
- Electronic Waste
- Propane Tanks
- Used Automotive oil/filters & Used Antifreeze
- Household Batteries/Vehicle Batteries
- Concrete/Bricks & Asphalt
- Clean fill (unprocessed soil, clay, sand, gravel, loam, silt)
- Fluorescent Light Tubes/CFL bulbs
- Paint
- Household Hazardous Waste (pesticides, toxics, corrosives, flammable liquids, physically hazardous products)
- Textiles (clothing, shoes, bags – in ANY condition)
