In accordance with s. 21(1) and 22(1) of The Municipal Councils and School Boards Elections Act, in order to vote in the upcoming municipal council and school board elections, a person must be:
- A Canadian citizen;
- 18 years of age or older by the date of the election (Oct 28, 2026);
- a resident of the local authority or a registered owner of land in the municipality (for municipal council elections) on election day and has been so for at least the six months before the day of the election (April 28, 2026)
IDENTIFICATION WILL BE REQUIRED BEFORE BEING ALLOWED TO VOTE. A person will be required to produce one piece of government issued photo identification (for example - driver’s license) or at least two other documents that provide proof of identity and residence.
