Brandon School Division School Board Trustee By-Election set for October 16, 2025
A by-election for the Brandon School Division Board Trustee position in Ward #1 (City of Brandon) will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025. The by-election is being held to fill the Trustee position left vacant with the resignation of former Trustee Blaine Foley. Interested persons can obtain information on the role of a trustee and the nomination process from the Resources section below.
To be a considered an eligible candidate, a person must:
- be a Canadian citizen,
- 18 years of age or older on the day of the by-election,
- have resided in Brandon for a minimum of six months before the by-election date
- and is not disqualified under any other provision of this Act or under any other Act, and is not otherwise by law, prohibited from being a trustee or from voting at elections in the school division or school district.
Persons interested in running for trustee must also submit prior to the nomination deadline, their completed nomination papers including a declaration and statement of disclosure. Nomination papers must be signed by the candidate themselves and include the verified signatures of a minimum of 25 electors of the ward
Nominations will be accepted during the period SEPTEMBER 4-5 and 8-10, 2025, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Brandon Votes Office, 2nd Floor, Legislative Services, Civic Administration Building, 410 – 9th Street.
General Municipal and School Board Election
The next general municipal and school board election is in 2026. This includes elections for mayor, councillors and school board trustees. The 2026 General Municipal Election will be conducted in accordance with The Municipal Act and The Municipal Councils and School Boards Elections Act.
Information for prospective municipal election candidates and information for voters in municipal elections will be provided and will be updated throughout the months before the election.
