Taxi Cab Driver’s Permit

Taxicabs are a large part of the transportation industry within the City of Brandon limits. Citizens of Brandon rely on the professionalism, integrity, and convenience of these services. As such, the by-laws pertaining to the industry are strictly monitored.

All references included will pertain to Taxi By-Law No. 6884 in the City of Brandon By-laws.

Important taxicab by-law information you as a service user should know:

Taxicabs must be decaled with a company name and number, a vehicle roof light, and a taxi meter that is easily read at all times.

The driver must always prominently display the taxi driver permit in a way that is visible to all passengers in all seats.

The integrity of the taxicabs within the City of Brandon is monitored closely. By-law, Brandon City Police and Manitoba Public Insurance Vehicle Standards perform annual and random inspections on ALL taxicabs and drivers to ensure safety and compliance.

If you feel that a taxicab or driver is not in compliance with any of the prescribed by-laws, or if you have any concerns, please contact the Brandon Police Service By-Law Unit.
