Living Simply Kitchen was Brandon’s Green Business Award recipient in 2024 for their reusable glassware exchange program aimed at eliminating single-use packaging, their focus on reducing food waste and their emission reduction practices.

The City of Brandon and the Brandon Chamber of Commerce are thrilled to launch the 2026 edition of the Brandon Green Business Award.
The Green Business Award celebrates a local business that champions sustainability, water conservation, or waste reduction through their own innovative efforts. To qualify, businesses should detail an initiative or set of initiatives that they’ve taken that goes above and beyond their normal operations to achieve sustainability. This initiative must not be part of your regular business model and must not be mandated due to a federal, provincial, or municipal law, by-law, or other body of rules.
Your local business can be of any size, within city limits.
Green initiative ideas include:
- Becoming a fair-trade workplace or retailer
- Switching to energy efficient bulbs or appliances where applicable
- Creative ways to reuse/recycle goods, products, materials etc.
- Encourage or implement a green commuting strategy
- Water conservation
Locally-based businesses of any size within Brandon’s city limits are eligible and the competition usually run through the month of October. The selected winner will receive an award certificate, a Fair Trade coffee break hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and City and will be featured on the City’s social media platforms.
Past winners have included local businesses such as The Green Spot Home and Garden, which focuses on recycling and composting, and Brandon University Physical Plant, which has implemented various sustainable practices. Green Business Award Winner 2025
The City of Brandon and the Brandon Chamber of Commerce are delighted to announce that Livingstone Landscaping Ltd. has been named the 2025 winner of Brandon's Green Business Award.
This award honours a local business that demonstrates outstanding efforts in sustainability, water conservation, green infrastructure or transportation, waste reduction and beyond. It recognizes businesses that go beyond their regular operations and implement a new innovative sustainable practice or initiative that emphasizes environmental impact.
This year’s recipient, Livingstone Landscaping Ltd., has been recognized for its forward-thinking electric vehicle (EV) fleet transformation. The company replaced seven gas-powered trucks with all-electric vehicles to reduce emissions, lower fuel and maintenance costs and enhance safety for its crews. It also installed level 2 charging infrastructure at its Byng Avenue facility and at employees’ homes, fostering a culture of proactive sustainability.
The results have been impressive: a 25% reduction in fleet emissions and $800–$1,000 per vehicle in monthly fuel and maintenance savings and greater employee engagement through EV training and sustainability education.
"At Livingstone Landscaping, our shift to an all-electric fleet in early 2025 was driven by a commitment to slash emissions and operational costs while delivering reliable service to our Brandon clients - proving sustainability can fuel both our bottom line and our community's green future," said the Berg family, Owners of Livingstone Landscaping Ltd.
Based in Brandon, Livingstone Landscaping Ltd. is a full-service landscaping, design, construction and maintenance company specializing in hardscape and softscape design and installation. Livingstone Landscaping plans to build on their success by adding more EVs, installing rooftop solar panels, and launching a zero-waste landscaping initiative to compost and repurpose green waste.
To celebrate, members of the City of Brandon and the Brandon Chamber of Commerce along with Mayor Jeff Fawcett presented the Green Business Award and a Fair Trade Treat Break to the Livingstone team.
