Large Item Collection

Discovered some unusable, large household items that you want to get rid of? Large items are not collected as part of the regular refuse collection program, however there is a special large item collection program in place that allows those large items to be picked up at the curb or in the lane way. 

Acceptable items may include furniture, large appliances (fridges, freezers, air-conditioners, stoves, etc.) hot water tanks and mattresses.

Household construction/renovation materials, such as drywall, lumber (both treated and untreated), shingles, concrete, doors, bathtubs, windows or carpets must be taken to the Eastview Landfill Site for disposal.

If you have a large item you wish to dispose of using this program, just follow the three simple steps below:

1. Purchase a bulky item ticket at one of the following locations:
   City Hall
   410 – 9th Street
   Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
   
   Please note that each item requires are ticket. Ticket costs are according to the fee schedule.
   
   
2. Call the Eastview Landfill at 204-729-2281 or email solidwaste@brandon.ca to schedule a pickup date (please have your purchased ticket on hand).
   
   
3. Have your large item(s) out to the curb or back lane by 7:00 a.m. on the specified collection day and we will take care of the rest. City crews are unable to enter onto private property to retrieve items. Ensure that all items are tagged. Any untagged items will not be picked up. 

Large Item Pick Up Guidelines:

• Must be a City of Brandon resident and location must be within City of Brandon limits.
• Items must be no larger than 1 meter in dimension in any one way and no heavier than 25kg (55lbs).
• Hazardous waste is not accepted through this program, check to see if we accept the items through our diversion program or contact Miller Environmental 204-925-9600 for more information on how to dispose of your materials.
• White goods are accepted, regardless of weight and size (these items are regular household appliances only).
• Trees and wood/lumber must be bundled and not to exceed 2 meters in length and weigh no more than 25kg per bundle.
• Mattresses and boxsprings must be wrapped in plastic before collection can take place.
