Nomination Period Opens for Mayor, Council, and School Trustee Candidates

Brandon, MB – The Senior Election Official wishes to advise that the nomination period for candidates seeking election as Mayor, City Councillor, or School Trustee in the 2026 municipal election opens tomorrow, Sept. 16 and closes Tue, Sept. 22 at 4:30 p.m. The Election Office is located on the main floor of Brandon City Hall (410 - 9th St.) and is open weekdays from 9 a.m. at 4:30 p.m.

Candidates intending to file nomination papers are encouraged to book an appointment with Senior Elections Official Heather Ewasiuk by calling 204-729-2462 to ensure their nomination documentation can be processed prior to the above deadline. A full list of candidate nomination requirements can be found online at brandon.ca/city-hall/election/nominations.

Brandon residents are reminded that Sept. 22 is also the deadline to ensure their name appears on the official Voters List. If you rent your home, are new to Brandon, or have changed addresses recently, please call 204-729-2462 to ensure your name is on the Voters List.

Advance Voting Opportunities

In addition to the voting opportunities on Election Day, Wed, Oct. 28, 2026, the following advance voting opportunities will available:

• Wed, Oct. 14 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Brandon City Hall
• Sat, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pioneer Lounge at the Keystone Centre
• Thu, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Brandon City Hall

An eligible voter may also apply to vote by sealed envelope if they have reason to believe that they will be unable to vote on Election Day or during the advanced voting opportunities. More information or to apply, visit brandon.ca/city-hall/election/voting-opportunities/sealed-envelope-ballot.

Call for Election Workers

Brandon Votes is seeking community minded individuals to help deliver the upcoming municipal election. Successful applicants must be available to work the entire day on Wed, Oct. 28 and will be paid for a full day, plus training.  

Paid positions are currently being sought for the roles of voting place supervisor, issuing official, and voting official at the various polling locations. Applicants will be required to successfully complete mandatory training, including a basic computer competency test. Residents who are interested in applying are encouraged to visit brandon.ca/city-hall/election/election-workers.
