2026 Flood Protection Subsidy Program
Brandon, MB - The City of Brandon is once again offering its Flood Protection Subsidy Program. The program provides financial assistance for the installation of sump pumps and pits and/or backwater valves in existing homes and businesses within city limits. New construction is not eligible.
Eligible property owners can receive up to 75% of materials and installation costs, to a maximum of $2,500 for a sump pump and pit and $1,500 for a backwater valve. All work must be completed by a licensed plumber and pass required City inspections.
The program also includes a retroactive component, allowing installations completed on or after Jan. 1, 2020, to be considered, provided all program conditions are met.
Applications must be submitted by Nov. 30, 2026, with all work, inspections, and documentation completed by Dec. 15, 2026. Once final inspection is approved and proof of payment is submitted, subsidy cheques are typically issued within approximately 30 days.
Property owners can apply in person at the City of Brandon Development Services Division (638 Princess Ave., 7th St. entrance), or via our online portal at permits.brandon.ca.
