Recycling

• DO NOT bag or sort (not required) — simply place materials loose in cart.
• DO rinse containers (ensure food is removed), but labels/lids can be left on.
• DO flatten containers and/or breakdown boxes to maximize room (this will allow up to 200% more items to be placed in the cart).
• DO NOT include organic waste (kitchen or yard, including grass clippings, leaves, etc.)
• DO NOT recycle plastic shopping bags, film, or packaging.
• DO NOT throw in needles - use biohazard containers available at your local pharmacy.
• DO NOT recycle styrofoam, aluminum foil/plates, medical waste, mirrors, light bulbs, etc.
• DO recycle rechargeable and/or cell-phone batteries, BUT at City Hall / Civic Works Complex / Eastview Landfill (www.call2recycle.ca)
• DO NOT include Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) Bulbs; they can be recycled at Brandon Home Hardware.
• DO recycle all carton packaging
• Save space in your blue cart by flattening boxes and larger items.
• Toss the recyclables in loosely and don’t stuff containers inside one another.
• Ensure your containers and bottles are clean and empty. A quick rinse is that is needed.
• Labels and lids can be left on your food and beverage containers.
• DO NOT contaminate your cart by placing non-recyclable items inside the cart.
