Inspector McCallum joined the RCMP and graduated from Depot Division on August 8th, 2000. Inspector McCallum was posted to Brandon Detachment and during her career with the RCMP she was transferred to many of the surrounding communities including Wasagaming, Souris and Carberry. During her time with the RCMP, Inspector McCallum was assigned to General Patrol and Traffic. Dana saw the light and turned in her red Serge for brilliant blue and joined the ranks of the Brandon Police Service on June 7th, 2010. When Dana began her career with BPS, she was assigned to D Platoon, spending her first two years on general patrol. It was a new pace—and a new experience—having backup now just minutes away when needed.

In 2012, McCallum was appointed as the Elementary schools School Resource Officer which saw her in the schools making positive relationships from September through to June. Dana went on to serve in both bike and foot patrol during the summer months, continuing to build positive connections within our community.
In 2015, Dana returned to general patrol assigned to A platoon. In 2016, Inspector McCallum was selected for a detective position in our Major Crimes Unit and then in 2018 she became the first Youth Intelligence and Counter Exploitation Officer for the Brandon Police Service. Dana gained the trust of these youths and truly cared about the outcomes for each one of them. Inspector McCallum was also the lead officer behind project Beckon, which targeted exploitation in our community. This project was the first sexual exploitation project run in Brandon and was hugely successful and highlighted the growing issues of exploitation in our community.

In 2014, Dana was recognized with the Excellence in Law Enforcement Award for her outstanding work in local schools—a testament to her dedication to youth engagement and community policing. Her commitment has only continued to grow since then, making a lasting impact both within our organization and in the community she serves.

During Covid Dana was transferred to the detention section to cover cells for a ten-month period. In summer of 2022 she was promoted from Constable to Sergeant. In June of 2022, McCallum was transferred to the Sgt. in charge of the Organizational Development Unit. She was also in charge of the training unit, fleet services, building maintenance, and dress, and deportment. She created an online store for our members to use so they could order the equipment they need in a timely manner.

In January of 2024 Dana was transferred to the Community Support Section where she oversaw 18 members including the cadets, the school resource officers, media and the Hub table.
