Traffic Programs
Brandon Police Service teams up with Manitoba Public Insurance each year in order to provide “RoadWatches” (also known as “Check-Stops”).
RoadWatches are roadblocks organized by the Police Service conducted on the roadways on randomly selected days and times of day throughout the year. Drivers are randomly pulled in and checked for current license, registration, impairment, and compliance with the Highway Traffic Act.
Through the use of these RoadWatches, we are not only keeping the streets safe from motorists who are posing a danger to others but also deterring people from driving impaired or otherwise unsafely.
In the past, MADD Canada (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) has teamed up with BPS for some of these Roadwatches, and drivers who were found to be driving safely and legally were often rewarded with hockey tickets and other goodies. It pays to drive safe! More information on MADD Canada can be found at MADD.ca
