Fire Pit Permit

Steps to completing a fire pit application:

1. Review the attached Fire Pit Regulations to ensure that your fire pit has been installed in the desired location and meets the attached requirements. Fire Pit Regulations (96.5 KB)
2. Complete your sketch of your yard where your fire pit will be located. Your sketch must include the location of your fire pit and the distances from your fire pit to buildings, trees, play structures etc. Sketch of Yard (223 KB)
3. If you are not the property owner or if you are leasing the land, we do require a letter of approval for the fire pit from the property owner for the application.
4. Complete your fire pit application. This can be found online by clicking here. If you do not have online access, a paper copy of the permit can be obtained at either Fire Hall (#1 Fire Hall at 120 19th St N or #2 Fire Hall at 1301 13th St). 
5. Once all requirements have been met, permits are issued subject to any applicable fees as set out in the City of Brandon Fee Schedule and can be paid online once prompted by BFES. If paying in person, you can do so at #1 Fire Hall Monday to Friday 8 am – 4:15pm. The office is closed from 12 – 1:15 pm. Only cash or cheque is accepted.

Note: Only current permit applications will be accepted. It is not necessary to renew fire pit permits every year. A new application is required if there has been a change in information from the original application or in property ownership. An inspection of the proposed site/appliance will be required prior to use of the appliance and issuance of the permit. The appliance must be installed prior to inspection.

The use of outdoor burning appliances are limited to the hours between 12:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. Fires shall be supervised at all times so as to prevent their spread.”
