Police News Release - September 2nd, 2025

Assault / Assault by Choking / Forcible Confinement
On August 31st, police responded to a residence on Braecrest Drive following a report of an assault. A 28-year-old woman had been assaulted by her 38-year-old ex-boyfriend after she answered the door to her residence. The suspect forced his way inside, physically assaulted her, and prevented her from leaving by blocking the doorway and issuing threats. The victim was eventually able to flee the scene on foot.
Police attended the residence and conducted a search, but the suspect had already fled prior to their arrival.
On September 1st, officers attended the residence on suspicions that he was inside. A search of the home found the suspect hiding in a bathroom closet inside the victim’s residence. He was arrested and held in custody pending a court appearance.
IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act)
On September 1st at 4:59PM Cadets located a highly intoxicated female in the 400 block of Princess Avenue who was only dressed in her underwear. The female was arrested and held in detention cells until sober.
Break and Enter and Commit Assault / Uttering Threats
On September 1st at 10:38AM police attended a home in the 100 block of 16th Street and arrested a 23-year-old male who had been involved in an incident on August 25th, 2025. The male was arrested and later released via Undertaking with a November 10th, 2025, court date.
IPDA
On September 1st a 7:03PM a highly intoxicated 46-year-old male was arrested outside of a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue. He was arrested and held in detention cells until sober.
Breach of the Peace
On September 2nd at 7:18PM police were called to a disturbance in the 800 block of 12th Street. A 38-year-old intoxicated male was found to be the cause of issues. He was arrested and held in detention cells until sober.
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime / Fraudulent Use of Credit Card
On August 31st a resident in the 800 block of Russell Street reported that her vehicle had been entered, and her wallet was stolen. Prior to cancelling all of her credit cards, one fraudulent purchase had been made at a store on 1st Street. Video surveillance from the store identified a 22-year-old male. On September 1st at 8:10PM police located and arrested the male in his home. He was released via Undertaking with a court date of November 10th, 2025.
Breach of Conditional Sentence Order
On September 1st at 8:42PM a police officer on patrol noted a 35-year-old male in the 1700 block of Pacific Avenue who was breaking his curfew. The male was arrested and held in BPS detention cells for court in the morning.
Winnipeg Warrant / Breach of Probation
At approximately 12:13 AM on September 2nd, an intoxicated female was observed in the 1500 block of 18th Street. Upon noticing police presence, she attempted to abandon the bicycle she was in possession of.
A records check confirmed she had an Endorsed Winnipeg Police Service Warrant for Arrest. She was taken into custody, and a search incidental to the arrest revealed a pocketknife, which was in violation of her current probation conditions.
The female was transported to BPS where she was held in detention cells until sober. She has upcoming court appearances scheduled in Brandon on October 27th and in Winnipeg on November 18th, 2025.
The bicycle was secured and placed into property.
IPDA
On September 2nd at 12:54AM an employee from a hotel in the 1100 block of 18th Street reported a disturbance in a room. Police attended and located and arrested the highly intoxicated 36-year-old female found to be the cause of issues. She was held in detention cells and will be released once sober.
Arrest Warrant
On September 2nd at 2:19AM a persons check was conducted in the 1800 block of Victoria Avenue. The 30-year-old female was found to have an Endorsed BPS Warrant for Arrest. She was released via Appearance Notice with a court date of October 2nd, 2025.
Breach of Release Order
On September 1st at 10:46PM a 14-year-old female youth had not returned home for her court ordered curfew. On September 2nd at 3:34AM she returned home. She was arrested and held in BPS detention cells for court in the morning. Notice to parent was served to house parent.
Organized Crime Section – Search Warrant
On September 1, the BPS Organized Crime Section executed a firearms-related search warrant at a residence on Buttercup Bay. Prior to the warrant being executed, a 44-year-old female departed the residence and was taken into custody during a traffic stop.
A search of her vehicle incident to arrest resulted in the seizure of approximately 9 grams of methamphetamine, $70 in cash, a cell phone, several knives, a baseball bat, and multiple contaminated digital scales.
A subsequent search of the residence located an additional 30 grams of methamphetamine in the suspect’s bedroom, along with various types of ammunition, weapons, and related equipment. Another female occupant of the residence was identified and later released without charges.
The 44-year-old female was released on an undertaking with a scheduled court appearance on October 30, 2025.
