Police News Release - September 25th, 2025

Assault

On September 24th at approximately 8:52 p.m., police were notified of a domestic assault involving a 26-year-old male and his 20-year-old girlfriend. The male reported that the female physically assaulted him by punching, kicking, scratching, and pushing him. Upon the male initiating a call to police, the female fled the scene. Police attended and noted the visible signs of assault as he had scratches and discoloration. The female later returned, prompting the male to contact police again. Officers attended the scene; at which time the female was arrested without incident. The accused was held in custody overnight at Brandon Police Service (BPS) to be released in the morning on an Undertaking, with conditions and a scheduled court appearance on December 8th, 2025.

 

Possession of a Weapon

On September 25th at approximately 12:21 a.m., police were dispatched to the zero hundred block of 18th Street in response to a report of a male carrying a machete. The male was located quickly by officers. Upon being stopped, he approached the attending officer while holding a small knife in his hand. The male complied with verbal commands and dropped the weapon when ordered to do so. He was arrested without further incident and transported to BPS detention cells. He was held in custody overnight and released the following morning on an Undertaking with conditions.

 

Breach of the Peace

On September 25th at approximately 1:00 a.m. police were called to the 1100 block of 7th Street due to two calls coming in stating an intoxicated male was breaking things and had punched holes in the wall. A short while later the individual was on the roof of the house, continuing to break things and shouting. Upon police arrival the individual was inside the house where he was arrested and taken to BPS detention cells. He will be released in the morning once sober/calmed down.

 

Arrest Warrant

On September 24th at 10:29 a.m. police were informed that a 22-year-old female who had an endorsed Warrant for Arrest was at the Provincial Building. Police attended and located the female walking in the 300 block of 9th Street. She was arrested and later released via Appearance Notice with a court date of October 27th, 2025.  

 

Car Vs. Bicycle

On September 24th, near 21st Street and Van Horne Avenue, a southbound vehicle driven by a 39-year-old female collided with a 54-year-old male cyclist. The cyclist was knocked to the ground and sustained a laceration to his head. Brandon Fire & Emergency Services attended the scene. The male was able to walk to the stretcher and was transported to hospital for further assessment and medical care. A witness to the collision was present. Follow-up to the incident is ongoing.  

 

IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act)

On September 24th at 5:53 p.m. police were called to Elviss Crescent for an intoxicated female causing a disturbance. The female was arrested, held in detention cells, to be released once sober.
