Police News Release - September 24th, 2025

Uttering Threats / Possession of a Weapon

On September 24 at approximately 1:29 a.m., police responded to a 911 call from a 29-year-old male who reported that his ex-girlfriend, a 23-year-old female, had threatened him with a knife while he was lying in bed. The male stated that the female became upset after he refused to allow her to sleep in his room and subsequently threatened him. He was able to secure himself in another room and call for assistance. Police attended the scene, and the female suspect was arrested. She was held in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells and will appear in court in the morning.

 

Breach of the Peace

In the past 24 hours two individuals from separate incidents were arrested for Breach of the Peace. Both individuals were held in BPS detention cells and will be released once sober.

 

Access Any Child Pornography / Possession of Child Pornography

On March 21, 2025, the Brandon Police Service received a Cybertip report from the OCEAN (Online Child Exploitation and Abuse Network) database, indicating that a video file containing child sexual abuse material had been uploaded to Dropbox by a user associated with an IP address registered in Brandon.

A production order was obtained, and the investigation identified the subscriber as a 20-year-old male residing in the 900 block of Maryland Avenue. On September 23, 2025, members of the Brandon Police Service executed a search warrant at the residence. The suspect was arrested at the scene, and electronic devices were seized for forensic analysis.

The male was processed at BPS Headquarters and later released on an Undertaking with conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 13, 2025.
