Police News Release - September 23rd, 2025

Arrest Warrants

In the past 24 hours two individuals were arrested on the strength of their warrants. Both were later released via Appearance Notice both with court dates on October 20th, 2025.

 

Mischief Over $5000

On August 22nd, police received a report of significant damage to a vehicle following an incident west of town. The vehicle's occupant had unintentionally driven onto private property. A 73-year-old male property owner reportedly approached without warning and struck the vehicle multiple times with a metal baseball bat, causing extensive damage.

The suspect was identified and subsequently charged with Mischief Over $5000. He was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on December 1st, 2025.

 

Failure to Comply Probation

On September 21st a complaint was received by a female stating her ex had violated a Probation Order by communicating with her. On September 22nd the 63-year-old male was arrested, charged, and later released on an Undertaking with a court Date of December 1st, 2025.

 

Impaired Driving Investigation – Blood Analysis Pending

On September 22nd at 12:28 p.m., police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver who had collided with a parked vehicle in the parking lot of a business located in the 300 block of 18th Street North.

Upon arrival, officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests on the 55-year-old male driver, which he failed. The individual was transported to hospital for mandatory blood analysis and later lodged in BPS detention until sober.

The driver was issued several tickets, including:

·         As a driver, fail to produce license to a peace officer when required

·         As the driver of a vehicle involved in an accident fail to give required information to the driver of another involved vehicle

·         As a driver fail to produce insurance certificate and registration card to a peace officer when required

The investigation remains open, pending the results of the blood analysis to determine the presence and level of intoxication.

 

Disturbance Leads to Arrests – Breach of Peace & Curfew Violation

On September 23rd at 2:23 a.m., police were dispatched to a disturbance in the 1600 block of McTavish Avenue, following reports of an altercation involving a group of teenage girls and a woman who was attempting to pick up her daughter from a residence. While the mother did not wish to pursue assault charges, she requested police assistance to safely retrieve her daughter.

Upon arrival, officers were met at the door by a 20-year-old male who became aggressive with police. He was arrested for Breach of the Peace and lodged in BPS detention cells until sober.

A 14-year-old male youth was also located at the residence and found to be in breach of a curfew condition under a current Release Order. He was arrested and held in custody to appear in court later this morning.

The daughter was safely located inside the residence and was turned over to her mother.
