Police News Release - September 22nd, 2025

Assault / Assault by Choking
On September 21st at 8:56 p.m. police were called to a residence in the 500 block of Princess Avenue for an assault. A 30-year-old male was arrested on scene and charged with Assault and Assault by Choking. He was brought to BPS and later released via Undertaking with a court date of November 20th, 2025.
Possession for Trafficking / Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
On September 21, 2025, at approximately 10:42 p.m., members of the Brandon Police Service conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of 10th Street. During the course of the investigation, officers located and seized approximately 7 grams of cocaine and $5,000 in Canadian currency. The cash is believed to be proceeds obtained through criminal activity.
As a result, a 39-year-old male resident of Brandon and a 38-year-old female from Sioux Valley were arrested and jointly charged with the following offences:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Both individuals were released from custody on an Undertaking and are scheduled to appear in court on November 13, 2025.
Multiple Charges to Break & Enter Ex-Boyfriend
On September 21, 2025, at approximately 11:17 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of 6th Street following a report from a female caller. The complainant stated that her ex-boyfriend had entered her home while under the influence of methamphetamine, had assaulted her by punching her and throwing a garbage can at her, and subsequently forced her out of the residence. The suspect then remained inside the home.
Upon arrival, officers found the front door barricaded with a table. It was determined that the male suspect had gained entry by reaching through a broken window to unlock the door. Officers entered the residence and located the male in the basement holding a hatchet. He was arrested and taken to BPS detention cells. The male remained in custody overnight and is scheduled to appear in court this morning on September 22, 2025. He faces the following charges: Break and Enter, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Failure to Comply with an Undertaking x2 and Uttering Threats.
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
On September 22, 2025, at approximately 12:03 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle bearing Nova Scotia licence plates in the 4500 block of Victoria Avenue. Investigation revealed that the plates had been reported stolen and did not match the vehicle to which they were affixed. As a result, the vehicle was towed from the scene, and efforts are underway to contact the registered owner, identified as an auto dealership.
The 29-year-old male driver was taken into custody and remains held at Brandon Police Service in detention cells. He is scheduled to appear in court the morning of September 22, 2025.
Stolen Vehicle – Black 2020 Hyundai Elantra
On September 21 at approximately 1:45 p.m., the theft of a black 2020 Hyundai Elantra was reported to the Brandon Police Service. The vehicle was taken from the Southeast parking lot of the Keystone Centre sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. At the time of the theft, the Elantra had an estimated 80 kilometers worth of fuel remaining, indicating a refuel would likely be required soon if the vehicle is being operated.
This matter remains under active investigation.
