Weapons, Impaired drivers, and Youths arrested
For the Past 24 Hours:
Assault
On Saturday afternoon police responded to a report of an assault in progress. The victim and her friend had both been assaulted by a known person. The suspect had fled prior to police arrival but attended BPS shortly thereafter to turn himself in. The 43-year-old male was arrested for 2 counts of Assault and later released on an Undertaking with conditions.
Firearms offence
On Saturday afternoon police received a report from a female regarding a male who had just threatened her with a firearm. Police attended the residence and learned that the suspect was the victim's boyfriend. He was located at the scene, and a pellet gun was recovered. The 21-year-old male was arrested for Pointing a Firearm, and was lodged in BPS cells for a court appearance the following day.
Weapons Offence
On Saturday evening police responded to a group of youths trying to start fights in the 1800 block of Queens Ave. All 8 youths were identified and one 15-year-old male was found in possession of a machete. He was arrested for Possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and processed at BPS. He was later released to his parent with a court date in November.
Breach of Court Order
On Saturday evening police were flagged down by an intoxicated male in the 900 block of Rosser Ave. After checking on his condition and confirming his identity, he was found to be on a Release order with a condition not to consume alcohol. He was arrested for breaching the court order and held in BPS cells for a court appearance in the morning.
Roadside Prohibition
During two separate traffic stops conducted early Sunday morning, both drivers were issued immediate 90-day driving prohibitions after a sample of their breath on a calibrated roadside screening device registered a Fail. Both vehicles were towed and impounded, and the accused’s driver’s license were seized.
Weapons, Breach of Undertakings, and Resist Arrest
Early Sunday morning at approximately 3:00 police responded to a report of a group of male youths who were observed going through vehicles in the 900 block of 7th street. The group was located by police and tried to flee however they were caught within the next block. One of the 14-year-old males was arrested for trespass by night and later released to a parent. The second 14-year-old male was observed throwing away a knife while running from police. He was arrested after a brief foot pursuit, and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon, Resist arrest, Obstruct Police, and 2 counts of breaching his court order. He was held in custody for court in the morning. A third youth was arrested for a curfew breach and weapons charge, and was held in BPS cells for a court appearance in the morning.
Breach of Peace
Within the last 24 hours, one female was arrested for Breach of Peace when she was found highly intoxicated after a report of a fight amongst relatives. She was unable to care for herself and was lodged in BPS cells until sober and calm.
