Police News Release - October 8th, 2027

Arrest Warrants
In the past 24 hours four individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. All four individuals were held for court in the morning on October 8th, 2026.
Charges Given at Brandon Correctional Centre
On October 7th at 9:37 a.m. a Brandon Police Service (BPS) member attended Brandon Correctional Centre (BCC) and arrested a 36-year-old male on outstanding charges. Charges included Assault, Resist Arrest, Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition, Careless Use of Firearm, Discharge Firearm in a Reckless Manner, and Possession of Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order. The male appeared before court on the afternoon of October 7th, 2026.
Theft Under $5000
On September 13th a citizen reported they had lost their wallet and there had been a fraudulent transaction. The $32 transaction at a store in the Corral Centre was viewed via surveillance video and the suspect was identified.
On October 7th the 37-year-old male was located by police in the 1000 block of Rosser Avenue. He was arrested and charged. He was later released via Undertaking with a future court date of December 17th, 2026.
Assault with a Weapon / Possession of a Weapon
On October 7th at 4:22 p.m., a female youth attended Brandon Police Service with a family member to report that while walking home from school 45 minutes prior, she had been chased by an unknown male who was armed with a knife. The female reported that the male approached her from behind and pulled on her backpack then briefly chased her, but she was able to run away uninjured. Within minutes of leaving BPS, the victim had eyes on the male and notified BPS that the male was in the 2200 block of Louise Avenue travelling eastbound. Members attended the area and located and apprehended the male matching the description provided. ID confirmed by victim. The 30-year-old male was transported to BPS, where an onsite paramedic determined he required further medical assessment due to a high level of drug intoxication. He was transported to Brandon Regional Health Centre, where he was assessed and eventually medically cleared. The male was then returned to BPS detention cells and is scheduled to appear in court on the morning of October 8th, 2026.
