Police News Release - October 2nd, 2025

IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act)
In the past 24 hours two individuals were arrested for IPDA. They were held in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells to be released once sober.
Break & Enter - Still Under Investigation
On October 1st at 8:59 a.m. police were informed that the owner of a rental property attended the residence in the 100 block of 7th Street to find the shower running, cupboards open and tools missing. This incident remains under investigation. Should you have information please call BPS at 204 729-2345.
Failure to Comply Probation
On October 1st at approximately 8:02 p.m., officers were attending a business in the 000 block of 10th Street on an unrelated matter when they observed a 25-year-old female known to be bound by a Probation Order prohibiting her from attending that establishment. She had been charged with breaching this same condition just a few days earlier. She was arrested for breaching her Probation Order and lodged at BPS detention cells to appear in court the following morning.
Failure to Comply Release Order
On September 26th police were informed a 63-year-old male had breached his Release Order by contacting his ex by attending her residence. The male turned himself in to BPS on October 1st. He was arrested for the breach and held in BPS detention cells to appear in court the following morning.
Arrest Warrant
On October 1st at 8:39 a.m. Police conducted a traffic stop in the 2600 block of Princess Avenue in which a 35-year-old male passenger had a Warrant for Arrest (Assault). The male was arrested and released via Appearance Notice with a court date of October 30th, 2025.
Assault
On October 1st at 11:51p.m. officers responded to a 911 call at a residence on Cornell Bay. Upon arrival, police discovered that a 36-year-old female had assaulted her daughter, a youth, resulting in a bloody nose and a noticeable bump on the child’s forehead. The female was highly intoxicated at the time of the incident. She was arrested for Assault and lodged at BPS detention cells to appear in court the following morning, October 2nd, 2025.
During the investigation, it was also determined that the only other adult present—a 45-year-old male—was breaching two conditions of his Release Order: he was not to communicate with the female or attend her residence. He was also arrested and held in custody at BPS for court.
Child and Family Services (CFS) attended the residence to ensure the care and safety of the children.
Failure to Comply Undertaking x3 / Numerous Weapons Charges
On October 2nd at 12:51 a.m. police located a 36-year-old male near Princess Park who was breaching his 10pm-6am curfew. Upon seeing the police, he attempted to run but gave up quickly and was arrested without incident. Upon arrest he was found to be in possession of brass knuckles – also contrary to his Undertaking conditions. The male was arrested, held in BPS detention cells and will attend court in the morning on October 2nd, 2025.
Charges include – Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Knowing its Possession is Prohibited, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon while Prohibited, Faily to Comply Undertaking (curfew), Fail to Comply Undertaking (Not to possess any weapon), Fail to Comply Undertaking (Must not possess prohibited weapon).
Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust
On October 2nd at approximately 1:29 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of 18th Street North. A search of the vehicle yielded approximately 8.7 ounces of methamphetamine and 3.2 ounces of cocaine. At the time of arrest, the 23-year-old was found in possession of $3,250 in cash. The two males were arrested and lodged at the BPS detention cells to appear in court the morning of October 2nd, 2025.
A 29-year-old male was charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance (x3)
A 23-year-old male was charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime
