Police News Release - October 18th, 2025
For the past 24 hours:
Trespasser Breaching Probation Order:
Just before 11:00 AM Friday, an employee from Superstore reported a female in the store that they knew was on Court ordered conditions to not attend there. The officers located the female inside the store upon arrival and the 22 year-old female suspect was arrested for breaching her Probation Order that prohibited her from attending the store. She was also wanted for a theft from the store from an incident in September. As a result, she was held in custody to appear today before the Court.
Shoplifters:
Just before noon Friday, two female suspects were reported for stealing merchandise from the Victoria Avenue Dollarama. The two suspects, aged 36 years and 32 years, were apprehended a few blocks away and approximately $130 in stolen merchandise was recovered. Both were later released, on appropriate Police imposed conditions, to appear in Court on January 5th.
Failing to Provide Necessities of Life:
As a result of an investigation initiated on Thursday evening, during which a 2 year-old child was found in a medically unstable condition, a 27 year-old male was charged with failing to provide the necessities of life. The child was transported to hospital and was taken into care by Child & Family Services. On Friday afternoon, the accused was released on Police imposed conditions, to appear in Court on December 22nd.
Arrest Warrants:
Early Friday afternoon, a 16 year-old male turned himself in at the Police station after learning a warrant for his arrest had been issued for being in possession of property obtained by crime. He was processed, released into the custody of a family member, and is scheduled to appear in Court on December 9th.
A 31 year-old male was arrested on the strength of a warrant for arrest for failing to attend Court after a patrolling member observed him in the 800 block Pacific Avenue on Friday afternoon. He was processed and released to appear in Court on December 22nd.
Prescription Forgery:
On Friday afternoon, the Walmart pharmacy reported that a 52 year-old male had dropped off a prescription order and that the amount of medication had been altered; that was confirmed by them contacting the doctor. When the male returned to pick up the prescription, he was arrested for forgery and using a forged document. He was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Court on January 25th.
Weapons Charges:
On Friday evening, a 22 year-old male was arrested at a Westaway Bay residence during the execution of a search warrant relating to the accused being in possession and using firearms while committing numerous criminal offences. The accused has been charged with pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, uttering threats, and assault with a weapon. There was also an outstanding warrant for arrest for a firearms related offence from June, 2025. He was held in custody and will appear before the Court today.
Breach of Undertaking:
Early Saturday morning, Police were called a disturbance on Westaway Bay where it was reported one male was chasing another and machetes were involved. As a result, a 21 year-old male was arrested and charged for failing to comply with conditions of an Undertaking that he is currently bound by. Four other intoxicated persons – a 27 year-old female, a 20 year-old male, a 25 yar-old female, and a 25 year-old female – were arrested for breaching the peace and lodged in cells to sober up and prevent further disturbances.
Others:
Throughout Friday night – Saturday morning, another 6 intoxicated persons were taken into custody for breaching the peace or under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. All were held in custody and will be released as they sober up.
