Police News Release - November 7th, 2025

Assault / Assault with a Weapon

A Crown opinion was sought after an incident which occurred on July 22nd, 2024, at Brandon Regional Health Centre (BRHC), in which the suspect threw a garbage can that in turn struck a nurse. Yesterday, on November 6th, 2025, the suspect was arrested following recommendations to proceed with charges. The 21-year-old male was later released via Appearance Notice with a court date of January 15th, 2026.  

 

Arrest Warrant

On November 6th at 4:00 p.m., police located and arrested a 33-year-old male on the strength of his Warrant for Arrest. (Theft Under / Failure to Attend Court). The male was brought to the Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention unit and held for court in the morning.

 

Disturbance Leads to Charges and Arrests

At approximately 1:20 a.m. on November 7th, 2025, police were called to a disturbance in the Westaway Bay area after reports of individuals banging on doors and looking through the window of a residence. It was said one individual was holding something suspicious.

Upon arrival, officers detained a 20-year-old male for investigation. During a safety pat-down, officers located a replica pellet gun in his hoodie pocket. When informed of his arrest, the male attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended after a brief pursuit. The male was breaching two Release Order conditions — a curfew violation and a prohibition on possessing weapons. He was transported to BPS detention cells and is scheduled to appear in court in the morning on November 7th, 2025.

A second individual, a 15-year-old male, was also located at the scene and was found in possession of a canister of bear spray. He was charged with Possession of a Weapon and released via Undertaking to a guardian. His court appearance is set for January 13th, 2026.

 

IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act)

On November 7th at 4:03 a.m. police were called to the 200 block of 4th Street due to an intoxicated female who was causing a disturbance and was no longer welcome at the address. Police attended and arrested the 38-year-old female. She was brought to BPS detention unit and will be released once sober.
