Police News Release - November 12th, 2025

IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act)

In the past 24 hours two individuals were arrested in separate incidents for IPDA. They were brought to Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention unit to be released once sober.

Break & Enter

On November 11^th at 4:42 p.m., police received a report of a break and enter at a business in the 1600 block of Rosser Avenue. At 1:30 a.m. that morning, a crowbar was used to pry open the front door of the store and approximately $500 worth of merchandise was stolen. The matter remains under investigation.

Breach of Release Order

On November 11^th at 2:04 p.m. a store in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue reports a female, who is on conditions not to attend the store, had been in the store. At 5:29 p.m. police located the 31-year-old female in the 100 block of Lorne Avenue, and she was arrested. She was brought to BPS detention cells and held for court in the morning on November 12^th, 2025.

Theft Under $5000

On November 11 at approximately 8:16 p.m., police were notified of a shoplifter at a business in the 1700 block of Highland Avenue. A 47-year-old male suspect was located by officers and found to be in possession of a number of food items he had stolen. He was arrested and held in BPS detention cells. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on the morning of November 12, 2025.

Operate While Impaired / Refuse to Provide Sample with Demand

On November 11, 2025, at approximately 9:47 p.m., police received a report of a possible impaired driver after a vehicle was observed driving over a curb and becoming stuck diagonally in a driveway in the 500 block of Queens Avenue East.

The female driver reportedly exited the vehicle after spinning out, knocked on the home's door, engaged in aggressive conversation on whether they owned or wanted a cat – then returned to the vehicle and was able to exit the driveway heading west bound towards 1^st Street. Officers located the vehicle quickly and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, a 28-year-old female, displayed signs of impairment. She refused to comply with a breath sample and was subsequently charged. The vehicle owner was served the necessary documentation for impoundment. The driver was later released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in court on November 17, 2025.
