Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons Act (PDCIPA)
In the past 24 hours two individuals from separate incidents were arrested due to intoxication levels. They were held in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells to be released once sober.
Arrest Warrants
In the past 24 hours five individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. One was additionally charged with Resist Arrest. Three were later released with future court dates and two were held in BPS detention cells for court in the morning on May 1st, 2026.
Breach of the Peace
In the past 24 hours two individuals from separate incidents were arrested due to Breach of the Peace. They were each brought to BPS detention cells to prevent the continuation of behaviour and will be released once sober/calm.
Assault & Firearm Charges
On March 25th, it was reported to an officer that on March 20th at approximately 11:00 p.m., the victim (18-year-old male) and a couple of friends attended a restaurant located on the 2600 block of Victoria Avenue. While there, the accused (16-year-old male) and one other male, began bothering them. When the victim and friends left the restaurant, the accused followed them into the parking lot. The accused then took a bag from another individual and brandished what appeared to be a handgun at them.
An investigation began and at approximately 1:36 p.m. on April 30th, the accused, a 16-year-old male youth, attended BPS and turned himself in. He was held in BPS detention cells and is scheduled to appear in court on the morning of May 1st, 2026. Charges include Assault with a Weapon, Carry a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of an Offence.
Disobey Court Order x3 / Obstruct Justice
On April 29th, a 42-year-old female reported that her ex-boyfriend, a 37-year-old male, had breached court no contact orders. The complainant stated that the accused sent her an e-transfer containing a message in the memo field. Additionally, on April 28th, 2026, the accused was observed on surveillance footage dropping off a three-page letter in an apparent attempt to persuade her to withdraw charges against him.
On April 30th, the male was arrested and charged. He was subsequently released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of July 9th, 2026.
Failure to Comply Release Order
On April 30th at 11:16 p.m. police conducted a curfew check on a 51-year-old male who is to abide by a 9pm – 7am curfew. He was not at home. Approximately ten minutes later the male arrived home, and police were still in the area. He was arrested and held in BPS detention cells for court in the morning on May 1st, 2026.
