Police News Release - May 19th, 2026

Breach of Probation
On May 18th police officers observed a 15-year-old female known to have a 24-hour probation curfew to be breaching it. The female was arrested and released to caregiver on Appearance Notice with a future court date of July 28th, 2026.
Arrest Warrants
In the past 24 hours two individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. One was released via Appearance Notice with a future court date, and one was held for court in the morning on May 19th, 2026.
Breach of the Peace
At approximately 4:15 p.m. on May 18th, staff at a hotel in the 800 block of Pacific Avenue reported that a male who was not a guest of the hotel was acting erratically and refusing to leave the premises. Staff advised that the male had entered a room that was not assigned to him but exited upon seeing the tenant. Police located the male at the hotel and determined he was highly intoxicated by drugs. He was arrested and brought to BPS detention cells to be released once sober.
Failure to Comply Release Order
On May 18th at 6:23 p.m. police were dispatched to an apartment in the 400 block of 13th street for a report of a possible domestic disturbance. The male and female in the residence denied anything going on, but the 35-year-old male was found to have a no communication condition. He was arrested and later released via Appearance Notice with a future court date of July 20th, 2026.
Failure to Comply Release Order x3
On May 18th at approximately 9:01 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop in the 000 block of 9th Street. A 23-year-old male passenger in the vehicle was found to be intoxicated and in breach of several court-ordered conditions, including consuming alcohol, breaching curfew, and communicating with another passenger in the vehicle contrary to a no-contact condition. The male was arrested and brought to BPS detention cells to appear in court the following morning once sober.
Flight from Police / Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
At approximately 10:55 p.m. on the evening of May 18th, a BPS patrol vehicle observed a rental vehicle on Willowdale Boulevard accelerate in an apparent attempt to evade police. Officers activated emergency lights; however, the vehicle proceeded through a red light at 26th Street and, while attempting to turn right onto 18th Street, jumped the median and proceeded to crash into a light post and hedges. The driver fled on foot but was located nearby a short time later. A K9 track led directly from the vehicle to the suspect, and the vehicle keys were found in the possession of the 29-year-old male. Police recovered 9 grams of cocaine/crack cocaine around the 2500 block of Brandon Avenue that was discarded during the incident. The male was arrested and held in BPS detention cells to appear in court in the morning on charges of Flight from Police and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
