Police News Release - March 27th, 2026

Domestic Assault

On March 26th at 6:50 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence in Driedger Bay following a report of a witnessed assault. Upon arrival, officers determined that a 42-year-old male had assaulted his girlfriend by punching and choking her. It was also reported that the male was in possession of a knife during the incident.

The suspect had taken off prior to police arrival but was soon located at a nearby residential area. He was arrested and transported to Brandon Police Service (BPS), where he was held in custody to appear in court the following morning, March 27th, 2026. He faces charges of Domestic Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Assault by Choking, Breach of Court Order, and Unlawfully in a Dwelling.

 

Domestic Assault

On March 26th at 10:37 p.m., police attended a residence in the 1500 block of 2nd Street due to a Domestic Assault of which during an argument a 54-year-old male assaulted his wife. The male was arrested and transported to BPS where he was held in custody to appear in court the following morning, March 27th, 2026.

 

Assault

On March 26th at 6:05 a.m. police were called to a residence in the 700 block of 13th Street. The assault was disclosed and a 30-year-old male on scene was arrested and brought to BPS for processing. He was later released via Undertaking with a future court date of May 4th, 2026.

 

Uttering Threats

On March 26th at approximately 4:32 a.m., police responded to an intoxication complaint in the 1300 block of Princess Avenue. A 44-year-old male was arrested at the scene. The complainant later reported that the male had also uttered threats.

The male was advised of the charge and later released on an Undertaking, with a scheduled court date of June 4, 2026.

 

Break and Enter

Between March 25th at approximately 5:00 p.m. and March 26th at 9:30 a.m., suspects forced entry into a business located in the 900 block of Princess Avenue. The door appeared to have been pried open, allowing access to the office area. A laptop was reported stolen.

Theft Under $5000

On March 26th at 12:04 p.m., police received a report of a theft from a store in the 3400 block of Victoria Avenue. A male suspect had stolen five packages of ground beef. An employee provided a description and moving location of the suspect, and he was subsequently arrested. The 43-year-old male was transported to BPS for processing. He was later released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date of May 4th, 2026.

 

Arrest Warrants

In the past 24 hours two individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. One was held for court and the other was released via Appearance Notice with a future court date.
