Police News Release - March 24th, 2026

Sexual Assault
A sexual assault occurred in the early morning hours of March 21st, 2026, in the area of 20th Street (500–700 block) south of Victoria Avenue in Brandon.
An unidentified male suspect, described as tall and wearing all black clothing along with a black ski mask, approached a female victim from behind, forced her against a wall, and assaulted her. The victim resisted and was able to escape without physical injury. The suspect fled the area immediately afterward.
Investigators are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the individual or providing information that may aid the investigation. Police are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who:
- Was in the 500–700 block of 20th Street between approximately 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. on March 21, 2026
- Observed or heard anything suspicious or unusual in the area
- Has information about an individual matching the suspect description
- May have relevant video footage, including home security or doorbell camera recordings
Any information, no matter how minor it may seem, could be valuable to the investigation.

Arrest Warrants
In the past 24 hours there were six individuals arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. Three were held for court and three were released via Appearance Notice with a future court date.
Mischief Under $5000
On March 22nd, a 19-year-old female damaged a vehicle bumper in a parking lot at Corral Centre by kicking it. Police located the female on March 23rd and she was arrested for Mischief Under $5,000. She was later released on an undertaking, with a court date scheduled for June 1st, 2026.
Breach of Probation / Possession of a Weapon
On March 23rd, police attended the 400 block of 9th Street following a report of a suspicious male. Officers located and identified the individual, who was found to be in possession of a knife. The accused is currently on probation with a condition prohibiting the possession of knives. He was arrested and later released on an undertaking, with a court date scheduled for June 8th, 2026.
Breach of the Peace
On March 23rd at 4:49 p.m., police received a report of a male who had flashed a handgun in the area of 4th Street and Brandon Avenue. Officers attended and located a male matching the description nearby. Upon investigation, he was found to be in possession of a water gun. The male was arrested for Breach of the Peace and transported to BPS detention cells, where he was held to prevent further issues. Police also searched the area the suspect had walked through to ensure no additional weapons had been discarded; none were located.
