Police News Release - March 23rd, 2026

Arrest Warrants

In the past 24 hours five individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. Three were held for court in the morning while two were released via Appearance Notice with future court dates.

 

Traffic Stop Leads to Charges

On March 22nd at approximately 9:00 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop with a truck near Queen Elizabeth Park. A 27-year-old male was the driver of the vehicle while a 19-year-old male was the passenger. The vehicle’s registered owner confirmed that the vehicle was not where it should be and was stolen. Police also confirmed that the driver was wanted on an endorsed Warrant for Arrest (Theft Under $5000). The driver was arrested without incident. A search incident to arrest led police to find a knife in his jacket pocket. A rifle was also located in the backseat with rounds in a sleeve on the stock of the rifle. Additional rounds were in a bag in the back seat along with a folding style knife. 

The passenger was arrested and brought to BPS. He faces charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possession of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle, and Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime.

He was later released via Undertaking with a future court date of June 1st, 2026. 

The driver was arrested, brought to BPS (Brandon Police Service), and held for court in the morning. His Warrant was executed, and he faces charges of Possession of a Weapon x3, Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime, Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Court Order, Possession of Ammunition Contrary to Court Order, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

 

Obstruct Justice

Following an investigation that began February 6th, 2026, a 42-year-old male, who is currently in custody at Brandon Correctional Centre, was charged on March 22nd with Obstruct Justice. The male had repeatedly been in contact with a victim begging to get charges dropped. He will attend court in the morning on March 23rd, 2026.
