Police News Release - March 13th, 2026

Arrest Warrants

In the past 24 hours five individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. Two were held for court in the morning, two were released via Appearance Notice with future court dates, and one was held in detention cells to be released once sober via Appearance Notice with a future court date.

 

Breach of the Peace / Protective Detention + Care of Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.

In the past 24 hours four individuals were arrested and held in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells for Breach of the Peace and one for Protective Detention + Care of Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. They will be released once sober.

 

Aggravated Assault

Following an investigation on March 12th, 2026, a 20-year-old male was arrested in connection with an aggravated assault which occurred on March 12th, 2026. The accused was held in BPS detention cells overnight and is scheduled to appear in court this morning on March 13th, 2026. The victim, an 18-year-old female, was transported to hospital where she remains in serious condition.

 

Possession for Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

On March 12th, 2026, at approximately 11:16 p.m., police were called to a business in the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue regarding a report of a trespassing individual. Officers attended and located a 52-year-old male, who was subsequently arrested for trespassing. A search incidental to arrest resulted in officers locating a quantity of cash and 12 baggies containing methamphetamine. The male was held in BPS detention cells and will be released once sober on an Undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 14th, 2026.

 

Possession of a Weapon / Open Liquor Tickets

On March 12th at approximately 9:53 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of 22nd Street after observing that the plate did not match the vehicle.

During the stop, officers observed open liquor inside the vehicle and bear spray located between the feet of a 15-year-old female passenger. The occupants of the vehicle — a 21-year-old female driver and passengers aged 15 (female), 18 (female), and 20 (male) — were arrested and transported to BPS.

The 15-year-old female was charged with Possession of a Weapon and later released to the custody of a guardian. The intoxicated 18-year-old female remained in BPS care (Protective Detention + Care of Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.) to be released once sober. The vehicle was towed from the scene as there was no licensed driver available, and the vehicle was unregistered and uninsured and could not be left on a public roadway.

 

Obtain Sexual Services for Consideration x3

On March 12th, a 50-year-old male was arrested in relation to allegations that he paid for sexual services on three occasions between November 30, 2025, and February 13, 2026. The male was subsequently released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on May 11th, 2026.
