Police News Release - June 18, 2025

IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act)

On June 17th at 9:28PM Police were called to a disturbance at a hotel in the 1900 block of Queens Avenue. Upon arrival, an intoxicated 24-year-old female was found to be the cause of issues. Family had already taken the woman’s children to be in their care. She was arrested and held in BPS detention cells to prevent further issues. She will be released once sober.

 

Breach of the Peace

In the last 24 hours there were five incidents that each resulted in an individual getting arrested for Breach of the Peace. They will be released once sober / calm in the morning.

 

Arrest Warrant

On June 17th at 10:37PM Police conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of Richmond Avenue. A 51-year-old male within the vehicle had a Winnipeg Warrant for Arrest (Theft Under $5000 and Failure to Attend Ident). The male was later released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of August 26th, 2025.

 

MVA vs. Cyclist

On June 17th at 9:23PM Police received a report of a motor vehicle accident in the back lane of Clark Drive. A 22-year-old female cyclist struck her head receiving an injury. She was transported by ambulance to Brandon Regional Health Centre. The injury was said to be non-life-threatening. The incident remains under investigation.

 

Failure to Comply Release Order

On June 17th at 11:04PM Police stopped a 16-year-old female in the 500 block of Rosser Avenue who was known to be breaching her Release Order curfew condition. She was wanted from a curfew breach the previous evening as well. The female was arrested and held in detention cells to attend court in the morning on June 18th, 2025.

 

IPDA

On June 18th at 12:37AM a First Nation Safety Officer (FNSO) at a hotel in the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue requested assistance from BPS with an intoxicated male. Police attended and arrested a 24-year-old male who was causing a disturbance. He was held in BPS detention cells and will be released once sober.

 

Allegation of Non-Compliance

On June 17th at 9:15AM Police were called to a hotel in the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue as it was reported from FNSO a male was breaching his Conditional Sentence Order. FNSO’s had a 30-year-old male in their custody. The male was found to have a mickey of vodka on him and had been staying with someone at the hotel who had a four-year-old son. The male is on Conditional Sentence Orders to Abstain Absolutely from Consumption or Possession of Alcohol, and to have No Contact Directly or Indirectly with anyone under the age of 16. The male was arrested, held in BPS detention cells and will attend court in the morning.

 

Arrest Warrant

On June 17th at 2:15PM BPS bike patrol officer conducted a persons check in the Town Centre parkade with a 31-year-old male. The male was confirmed to have an Endorsed Warrant of Arrest (Theft Under $5000). He was released via Appearance Notice with a court date of July 24th, 2025.
